    how the hell does this happen? Initial speculation is 1) the girders were cracked 2) there was construction and jackhammering on the bridge - may have weakened infrustructure more. MDOT is keeping their mouths shut right now. Estimated 50-100 cars on the bridge during rush hour when it collapsed. I was ALMOST gonna take it this afternoon. Feeling nauseaus for sure.

    3 dead so far. Sorry I didn't want to de-rail the game thread, but just wanted to let those know who didn't know who might have family to try and contact them. Phone lines are total haywire (cellular) I can't get a call in or out.

    Not sure if any of you have turned on the tv or have any loved ones in Minneapolis/St. Paul, but I-35W bridge has collapsed into the Mississippi river and it doesn't look good.

    Especially from NY teams. Hopefully Kerry Wood pitches at some point during the game. Any chance Hee-Seop Choi could make an appearance? Maybe Eric Karros instead? Is Choi still in baseball anymore? Every time I see his name mentioned, I'm still awestruck at the fact that we were able to trade him away to a major league team to get Derrek Lee in return, straight up. A lot of people were against that trade. Alot of people overvalue and fall in love with our mediocre prospects. See Dubois, Choi, and a few others I can't think of right now.

    Good god I can't wait to see him take the bump! Hopefully he can stay healthy for two months. Man, this year is one feel good story after another... I'm setting the DVR for Thursday and Friday. That ovation he's gonna get is gonna be awesome.

    It really sucks. Koyie Hill is up here because the staff (and Z) love him even though Soto can call a good game too from what I've heard/read. Kendall is a Hendry pet, so he's not going anywhere, ever. Soto is trapped.

Hendry either fleeces (Ramirez, Lee, Karros/Grudz, Nomar/Murt) or gets fleeced (Pierre, Maddux). There is rarely any in-between (Bowen/Kendall).
