  1. 1) Welcome to the Board! 2) Who the heck is gonna intentionally walk Neifury?
  2. Yep. Plus an Error. But he also walked in that pivotal 8th inning rally.
  3. from cbssportsline.com: What's not funny, Jockstrap, is your abysmal offensive play. Shut up and quit crying like a little girl.
  4. I have this ugly feeling that Dusty will remove Walker because he's lefty, but leave in Jones to face Willis, mainly because Dusty is an idiot.
  5. As Bad as Dusty sometimes is...I don't expect him to go with 4 outfielders and no SS. :D grrr. And you quoted the wrong "hope" lineup.
  6. They are both bad, but having played sports all my life, I disliked leading the whole game only to lose in the last few seconds more so than playing the giant with no expectations to do well.
  7. Well during his slump he has been grounding alot of balls to Short and Third. Last night was a great example of knowing the situation so even if he hit it on the ground it would make for a more difficult DP.

  10. I knew two people asked to do it, I didn't know Maybelline was the first. Besides it will allow us to direct all the Neifi hate on Prima Donna for a little bit.
  11. He's not gonna just top a habit because he's hitting .200. It's probably ingrained. Like Sammy's hop and Ramirez's stare.
  12. Bruce's article: I really want to see a ball crack right into his ribs that piece of crap.
  13. I think he's likable. He seems to enjoy playing the game, something that can't be said for a lot of players. Now, if he could just stop sucking then I'd like him a whole heck of a lot more. Yes, most of my dislike stems from the fact that he stinks like hot garbage. Still, it irks me when someone so terrible showbaots when he finally does something worthwile. It seems like he's trying to stick it to the boo-ers. He just has a bat flip, I don't consider that showboating in this day and age.
  14. Well, I wrote what I wrote last night in the midst of a bad mood, but Neifi does strike me as particularly irritating to watch on the field. I'm sure my feelings and my interpretations of his on-field mannerisms are colored by my general irritation with him being a Cub. However, most ML players with inflated senses of self worth have accomplished more than Neifi. I bet you AAA athletes are cocky.
  15. .258/.343 (8BB/11K) Murt is the only player on this entire team (other than Lee) who could put up a pretty solid OBP even when he is hitting .258. Very impressive patience at the plate. :D Aram could too. Not sure about that. Aram don't like to walk. The last time his AVG was low for a long time (as a Cubs in 2003), he hit .259 with a .314 OBP. In 2002 he hit .234 with a .279 OBP. His OBP is generally just a little more than .050 points higher than his average, which means that with a .258 AVG, he's probably be no better than a .310-.315 OBP, which is bad. Really? I thought Aram had the second highest OBP last year which I *thought* was 70-90 points above his BA. Edit: Nope you're right. .055 two years ago, .056 last year.
  16. Can Neifi be hated anymore really? It would have been the Umps fault then, but likely, Neifi would be blamed.

  19. I don't think anybody expects him to be Barry Bonds. And I don't think anybody should be happy with a faster Burnitz. Burnitz led the Cubs to some of the worst RF production in the league last year. Right now Jones is worse than that. He's dangerously close to Neifi territory (although Neifi has been even worse than he normally is). People should expect more out of Jones, and they should expect a heck of a lot more out of RF. But that's where Hendry's misguided focus hurts the team. It's not Jones's fault he sucks (though it is his fault he keeps swinging at crappy first pitches). I agree with your expectations, I'd just give him more than 3.5 weeks before mercilessly booing him. CPatt got 2.5 years before the incessant booing started. I guess it doesnt matter what we say on here though, the expectations at Wrigley are very high these days (which is good) and the vocal minority of the fans are very much like Philly fans (unfortunately).
  20. Very insightful. It's the gist of the original post. There is some merit in the thought that it saves starters pitches, but Dusty has been given decent pens in the past and still abused his starters and relievers to oblivion. Obviously a good pen is better than a bad one, but is it any more important than the difference between a good starting rotation and a bad one? A good lineup and a bad one? No, in fact it's significantly less important. It's great that our pen has been solid so far and looks to continue to be that way, but it's no different(possibly worse) than if we were more skilled in other areas and weaker in the pen. I may be wrong on this, but I would think it would be much more demoralizing for a team to lose a lead late and have their bullpen blow it than to just have the starter pitch horribly. As I said, I may be wrong in assuming this and either way, a loss hurts, but personally I think that if you are going to lose, it's better to just lose early than lose a heartbreaker in the end. You tend to remember those heartbreakers more, at least I do as a fan. I'll never forget a Sunday Night game in 2002 I believe against the Cardinals where we were leading 9-4 going into the ninth and the Cards scored six runs in the bottom of the ninth, capped by a no doubt Edgar Renteria 3 run homer to win 10-9. Maybe that's just me. I do see your point though. My main reason for doing this was to separate the bullpen debate from the Jacque Jones thread. And I always appreciate insight from the Tiger. I don't think you're wrong. I think it's safe to say our loss to the Reds earlier when Rusch was crushed was much less painful than the Marlins loss to us last night. And as Brinoch said the bullpen makes up 26-28% of the complete team. That's significant.
  21. I'm not. I specifically changed Murton out of my starting fantasy lineup for Betemit aout 45 seconds before 6:05. I can't leave him on my bench for the sake of the Cubs, money is on the line.
  22. I'll take 2/3. Tommorrow's gonna be tough.
  23. Sorry, I'm starting Murton tomorrow.
