The key difference here is, one side doesn't like an aspect of the Cubs, and the other side doesn't like that a thread exists talking about that dislike of an aspect of the Cubs. It's one thing to see a discussion that says: A:Neifi sucks. B:He is not as bad as you think because of X Y and Z. And it's entirely different to see: A: Neifi sucks. B: How many more times do we have to hear crap like this? People should be free to discuss the team however they want. Nobody should go around telling people they can't bring up a certain topic, assuming that topic is at least Cubs related. If somebody wants to vent by saying Neifi sucks, there is no reason why somebody else has to stop by and blast that poster. Everybody can have an opinion, but when one's opinion is "you shouldn't be able to talk about that anymore", then that can lead nowhere but to confrontation. If somebody says "optimistic Cubs fans are blind idiots", then you can talk about the merits of that post even existing. But as long as somebody is keeping their topics on the Cubs (organization, front office, players, coaches), then I just don't see any justification for attacking that person for having that opinion. You know what I think it really comes down to? People just getting sick of hearing about how bad Neifi is. At least that's it to me. I don't like Neifi, I don't want Neifi, I hope he gets traded or retires. I know he sucks. I know he's an awful hitter. Reading it grates on people like me, who realize how bad he is, but get sick of seeing every thread become a State of the Neifury. (A prime example is the Neifi's catch and ball flip). In fact I probably have the SAME opinion about neifi as the people I argue with, I just get tired of seeing unrelated threads morph into Neifi threads. Does that help you understand better? I agree with you that everyone should have an opinion though. It would be nice to have every thread turn into a Murton Man-Love thread though, just for a change. [thread jack] So Murton is a stud isn't he? Struggles, starts taking the ball the other way. I want to start the official Matt Murton fan club. [/thread jack]
