  1. What post did Gunned make?
  2. People never get banned for disagreeing. They get banned for acting like idiots. Don't forget those that go against the groupthink... I don't know if I would classify it as "groupthink" but there are certain posters that get preferential treatment, who are very sarcastic, patronizing, and condescending when they disagree with others - but either they've been around forever or they know the moderators. Because when others post in a similar manner - they get warned right away while these folk don't. But it isn't group think necessarily.
  3. I'm willing to see him give up a hit or two, and maybe one run, but that's it. No walks. Oh, and he had better go all 9. 8 2/3 is fine by me. Perfect cuz then Dempster can get another save for my fantasy team. You can't get a save in a 38-0 game. Well Gooz will leave it at 38-0, but then [expletive] McRusch will come in to get some work and give up 35 runs in 0.0 innnings, and then Dempster will get the save.
  4. WHO made the REAL injury thread?
  5. Woah woah. Are you saying those that criticise the Cubs organizations are rational and those that don't are irrational? I think he/she means rational in the philosophical sense. It is a clash of world views. http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/rationalism-empiricism/ Exactly. My apologies. I took one philosophy class in college and it was NOT my forte.

  7. If marshall continues this level of pitching and Prior isn't back yet, and his stay is in jeopardy, I'm gonna heckle the HELL out of Hendry the next time I see him. I understand if the rotation becomes Z Maddux Wood Prior Miller and Marshall is sent down to AAA. I completely understand that. But ther eis no way Rusch should be on this team and Marshall shouldn't. I will go ballastic.
  8. Forgive me - I am sick of the recent phenomenon of glib and patronizing reactions to people with differing points of view. you mean like calling someones post dumb because you dont agree with his point of view? that makes sense. Technically that's not glib and patronizing - because it's overt. I think he's referring to sarcasm and condescension.
  9. If one of them gets hurt on a freak injury tonight, I'm hunting you down.
  10. Prior will be back before Miller.
  11. Novoa's arm is better than Rusch's and he pitches better out of the pen. I wish Rusch could be moved but I don't see it happening... Guzman is not a lock. He has to prove he can pitch effectively. Hopefully, he will do that it the few starts he'll get before Woody returns. I hear you. I'm trying to have optomistic wishful thinking that Gooz will dominate like Marshall. IF that happens the above would be my plan. The reason I moved Novoa is, there is no way Rusch is going anywhere with a 5 million dollar deal. What a stupid, stupid move by Hendry.
  12. The key difference here is, one side doesn't like an aspect of the Cubs, and the other side doesn't like that a thread exists talking about that dislike of an aspect of the Cubs. It's one thing to see a discussion that says: A:Neifi sucks. B:He is not as bad as you think because of X Y and Z. And it's entirely different to see: A: Neifi sucks. B: How many more times do we have to hear crap like this? People should be free to discuss the team however they want. Nobody should go around telling people they can't bring up a certain topic, assuming that topic is at least Cubs related. If somebody wants to vent by saying Neifi sucks, there is no reason why somebody else has to stop by and blast that poster. Everybody can have an opinion, but when one's opinion is "you shouldn't be able to talk about that anymore", then that can lead nowhere but to confrontation. If somebody says "optimistic Cubs fans are blind idiots", then you can talk about the merits of that post even existing. But as long as somebody is keeping their topics on the Cubs (organization, front office, players, coaches), then I just don't see any justification for attacking that person for having that opinion. You know what I think it really comes down to? People just getting sick of hearing about how bad Neifi is. At least that's it to me. I don't like Neifi, I don't want Neifi, I hope he gets traded or retires. I know he sucks. I know he's an awful hitter. Reading it grates on people like me, who realize how bad he is, but get sick of seeing every thread become a State of the Neifury. (A prime example is the Neifi's catch and ball flip). In fact I probably have the SAME opinion about neifi as the people I argue with, I just get tired of seeing unrelated threads morph into Neifi threads. Does that help you understand better? I agree with you that everyone should have an opinion though. It would be nice to have every thread turn into a Murton Man-Love thread though, just for a change. [thread jack] So Murton is a stud isn't he? Struggles, starts taking the ball the other way. I want to start the official Matt Murton fan club. [/thread jack]
  13. So Z Maddux Marshall Rusch Gooz And then when Wood comes back in May: Z Maddux Wood Marshall Gooz Send Rusch to long relief, option Novoa to AAA, option Aardsma to AAA. So you'll have Starters: Z Maddux Woody Marshall Gooz Relievers Dempster (CL) Howry Eyre Williamson Ohman Rusch for our staff and we can bring up an extra bat.
  14. Woah woah. Are you saying those that criticise the Cubs organizations are rational and those that don't are irrational?
  15. This general statement is prevelant on EVERY message board I post on - Phish, NSBB, Chicago Bears, Badgermaniac etc. and I think it's an oversimplification. I think 1) It's not easy to ignore threads and posts - that's the reason why we are ON a message board to begin with. 2) It's a discussion board so if people think Neifi sucks they are gonna say so, and if people don't like that thread they are gonna voice THAT opinion. You can't only expect one side to voice opinions - all sides will.
  16. The reason I'd rather see Hill is that Guzman is still working off the rust from barely pitching the past 2 years. Pitching in the big leagues for the first time is a jump, and for someone working his way back from injury, it's even tougher. I understand your point. I just want to see gooz so badly. Know what I mean?
  17. This Indian prefers the GOOZ. Hills fastball is deficient and I think Gooz has better command of his pitches, plus he has a way greater upside. We've been waiting for Gooz since 2003 and for one am pumped for this outing. Hopefully he can keep things under control and not get too amped up.
  18. I agree. Now if only we could apply that philosophy to Neifury, Jockstrap, and [expletive].
  19. So all that crap about none of them being back until June was just that... Crap? I believe it was Paul Sullivan that said none of them would return until June (while everyone else in the media and associated with the team is pointing to May for Prior and Wood). I don't believe sullivan ever wrote that. Maybe he said it on the radio, but not in print. Here's what Sullivan had to write about Prior's return: Trib I don't believe Sullivan. I think Prior will be back my mid May just based on what Hendry and others have mentioned. Miller will be the last to return from the DL. I agree. He's throwing 55 pitches to batters tomorrow. As long as there are no setbacks I expect him before June. Did anyone else start getting excited when they read about how close Wood is? Should I get that excited or Am I a fool and is my man love for Wood just that overpowering? Fool me once shame on you, fool me 100 times shame on me....
  20. I AM a murton groupie and I'm male. 8)
  21. Guess that tough love is having an effect already 8) PLZ PLZ PLZ be true. What a shot in the arm this would be.
  22. We rule. Can someone bust out the streetsweeper?
  23. he shouldn't be. Dusty said Hairston will be starting at 2b both tues and wed. If he replaces Cedeno, I'll blow a gasket.
  24. Over 162 games that's an awful lot more. Cubs leadoff spot, 2005: .299 OBP Juan Pierre, 2006: .284 OBP Wait, aren't you the one who constantly cites sample size? Talk about spinning stats for yourself. What in the world are you talking about? Have you read the thread? BSB said that Pierre at his current rate of production would get on base more than 2005's leadoff hitters. It's in the quotes directly above. He was wrong, so I pointed that out. I didn't even read this post, but I reread mine, and I realized you were arguing something different. I erased my post.
  25. Over 162 games that's an awful lot more. Cubs leadoff spot, 2005: .299 OBP Juan Pierre, 2006: .284 OBP NM i misread the argument. Sorry TT.
