  1. If JP is the 3rd best hitter on this team, I got Heidi Klum naked in my bedroom begging for me right now.
  2. I still can't believe he got 3 freaking years. If Jones bolted to KC so what? How did we get the LOWER hand on negotiations with Jones? Especially when KC was the alternative.
  3. If he's expected back with the cubs around the 12th I'd say a May 1st and May 6th Rehab Start.... I'm hoping to see him on the 7th...but if not, oh well. Do you think he'd really be going anywhere where he'd have to travel alot? Well, Prior made a rehab start in 2004 in Albuquerque, so a road location isn't necesarily eliminated. Didn't he never leave Arizona though? Uhh...he did when the I-Cubs played the Isotopes in Albuquerque, NM. This isn't to say that teams wouldn't rather have their star player rehab at a home park, but they'll do what's best for the player's rehab schedule. Gotcha - what I meant was didn't he just go and meet up with the team in Alberquerque - wasn't that his first rehab start? Regardless, it's fun to be talking about one of our 3 all-stars coming back soon!!!!

  5. I've gotten Wood before, but without much interaction. I just laughed out loud.
  6. I saw Bruce lurking, maybe he has some ideas of where/when Woody is headed? And good luck Vance! Have you gotten Woody's autograph? If so, what's he like in person?

  9. It's funny Dusty will give struggling vets multiple chances based on success they've had with other teams. But if they failed with other teams, he talks about fresh starts, and the result is the same: the vet continues to get chance after chance. Success, failure, it's all the same when you're a veteran. In Dusty's defense, Ronny struggled big time in ST and never had to hear footsteps behind him. Murton struggled for a week and half here, and Dusty was incredibly supportive of him. Then again there isn't a viable replacement for Murton, but there was for Ronny.
  10. Forgive me for not being clear. By "cheer" i meant "laud his praises," not the literal cheering at the ballpark. It's not my style to boo players and of course when at the ballpark I'll cheer for him as I will for any other player. My point was to say: "Look, I'm not anti-Pierre. I want him to succeed, just like all Cubs players. In fact, he's seems like a tremendous guy with a wonderful work ethic. I also really enjoy watching him on the basepaths. So I'm not criticizing his play for simply the sake of doing so. And when/if he turns it around I'll be the first to admit that I was mistaken about him." ...But in the meantime, isn't it okay to point out that he's really struggling? And isn't it okay to also point out that he's struggled now since 2004? And isn't it okay to express concern that maybe...just maybe...he is and will continue to be a liability for the team? Because he is right now. His play is hurting the Cubs. We really need him to play better if we are going to survive this time without Lee, Prior, and Wood. He needs to pick it up, and pick it up fast. If he doesn't, I would have no problem with a Pie callup to take his place. If Pierre doesn't get on base more frequently, he is a liability. He simply doesn't do anything else well enough to help the team in other ways. perfectly written.
  11. Why isn't he going to Iowa?
  12. :crosses fingers and prays:
  13. I wish Hendry could read your signature. It's like a stake through my heart.
  14. He was slated for an end of April start before the knee injury - it's only pushed back a week or week and half it seems....
  15. Just up on ESPN I think - mentions Cubs interest in Carlos Pena. Could someone with insider paraphrase the tidbit for us? Insider page
  16. If it's just these three for now, I don't mind so much. He wanted to see what he could do, as long as Jones doesn't face lefty's from here on out, I'll be fine with it. Covering him with 2 righties.Just in case they tried to pitch around him.A .227 lifetime whos slumping . LOL You're right, I take back what I said.
  17. I disagree 100%. We have much stronger pitching and a MUCH better bullpen. Offense hits slumps

  19. Slugging % is overrated. Give me 100+ RBIs a year, and we are good. SLG% is huge. It also consists of more than HR.
  20. This year's team is really fun to watch and likeable, except Neifi.
  21. He'll hit for some power - probably 20-30 HR.
  22. Our Bullpen other than today rules.
  23. Matt Murton is Money. 8)
  24. I agree with Goony in this thread.
