  1. okay, so i wasn't hearing things. Sorry Al, but just off the DL Carpenter (who hasnt pitched in a year) and Wainwright does not = CC/Sheets or Z/Harden
  2. It's impossible to watch a Cards broadcast without them talking about Carpenter and Wainwright coming back August. I'm also pretty sure Hrabosky just said "those are two numbers ones which will even us out with Milwaukee and Chicago." yea...okay.
  3. Hendry has always made some big, big moves for this team, but it seemed like once McDonough and MacPhail left town, and Hendry got rid of Dusty, Jim finally realized that they had to finally start implementing an organizational strategy that revolved around players that could get on base. He's successfully done that in under two years, and he continues to do a great job building a top team. Great job Jimbo.
  4. Are they having a press conference or something? I hate not being in IL right now so I could see all this.
  5. I can't believe we haven't gotten Matt Holliday and Tim Hudson yet. What's the deal, Jim?
  6. Where/when has Harden's velocity decreased? I seen in the beginning of the year before he we was out he was throwing anywhere from 95-98..Then lately they said he's been throwing 90-92 touching 94 sometimes.. Read the Rich Harden post in Cubs Discussions. He hasn't dropped that much in velocity, the media just doesn't know what they are talking about.
  7. I was watching the Cards game last night and their GM was on and he mentioned that they probably aren't going to make a huge deal, and are banking on Carpenter and Wainwright coming back
  8. Vanilla Coke, when you could find it, was awesome. Vanilla vodka and Coke was surprisingly tasty. I find it by the 12-pack here in Columbia all the time. A few of the gas stations are finally putting 20 oz bottles back in stores too.
  9. Rich Harden throws a no hitter in every start from here through the playoffs.
  10. I haven't before, but I'm not a big movie-goer in general. I am debating going to see The Dark Knight alone because my girlfriend doesn't really want to see it, and there aren't many people in town this summer to go with.
  11. Definitely Nomar. That was indescribable.
  12. I think they are all pretty ugly, but I went with 1.
  13. Monsters Inc. It was on Disney yesterday. It was the first time I watched it in a loooong time. It's brilliant. I need to get it on DVD.
  14. I don't think there are any problems. The trade was announced like an hour before the game, which was right around when press conferences were starting I assume, so I bet Hendry just didn't have a chance to tell him. I'm sure Lou knew that Hendry was working on a deal. I remember in ST that Hendry told Lou he was "going to be a very happy guy this winter" or something like that. I'm sure they're on the same page.
  15. He's a serviceable backup who can play 3 infield positions. EDIT: And wow ... he absolutely dominates CC Sabathia. Looks like hes Neifi/Macias-ish to me.
  16. Am I missing something? Ozuna isn't very good at all.
  17. He threw 95 pitches each of the last two times out. I'm guessing he might be on a leash of around 100, especially in July. It's interesting how Oakland handled him. Harden threw 90 pitches in his first start back, followed by 102, 105, 100, and 115. Since then, he has averaged 95 pitches with no appearances fewer than 91 pitches and none more than 99. 100 may be an arbitrary mark, but we'll see if that continues with the Cubs. 115 seems unnecessary. all these pitch counts reminds me of dare i say it (prior and wood). but i guess thats what we will have to live with. I just hope he stays healthy and doesnt remind me of those 2 again. I don't see Harden ever approaching Prior in 03 territory: 30 appearances on the season only 4 under 100 pitches 19 over 110 9 over 120 3 over 130 His last 3 starts of the 03 regular season were 123, 131, and 133. I think anything under 110 will be fine with Harden, but preferably keep it around 100.
  18. Why does everyone keep thinking this is insider info? I thought Tim just meant that Meph said that the Cubs should look at Grienke. I might be wrong, but that's how I interpreted it.
  19. Hendry said earlier in his press conference that the doctors have thoroughly examined Harden. Harden was in Chicago this past weekend. Did Hendry say that? Wow.
