  1. jonmorosi Jon Morosi #Pirates have kept in touch with #Rockies on Ian Stewart, source says.
  2. It's described in detail here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Posting_system Four-days to submit a sealed bid, Japanese team has the right to accept or reject the highest bid but they don't know who it comes from. After they accept the bid, you have 30 days to come to an agreement with the player. Once you do, you pay the entirety of the posting fee immediately. Thanks. So where does that money come from? Obviously we don't have $50M in available payroll to pay immediately.
  3. Why did I think Darvish was 28 or 29? I'm more intrigued now. How does the posting fee work? How does a team go about paying that money? Is it up front?
  4. Mets are listening to suitors about Ike Davis...any interest? What would it take?
  5. jonmorosi Jon Morosi Kerry Wood would like to return to #Cubs but wants raise over last year's bargain salary. A reasonable request.
  6. A friend of mine just mentioned this possibility on Twitter and it made me sad and I didn't have a response.
  7. Andy Martino of the New York Daily News reports that Albert Pujols is likely to return to the Cardinals. Pujols is reportedly mulling offers from the Cardinals and Marlins worth around $200 million over 10 years. All things being equal, we expect he'll return to St. Louis. Martino hears that the Marlins are now shifting their attention to landing Prince Fielder while various other reports suggest that they could be in the mix for either Mark Buehrle or C.J. Wilson.
  8. Jon_Heyman Jon Heyman Cubs, rox, dbacks, others trying for kuroda. May go back to japan tho.
  9. Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com was told by a Cardinals' source that a resolution in regard to Albert Pujols is expected Wednesday.
  10. Rangers CEO Nolan Ryan said Wednesday that the club is not pursuing free agent first baseman Prince Fielder. We have considered the Rangers a darkhorse for Fielder, but this is pretty consistent with what they have said all along. The market for the free agent slugger has been pretty slow thus far, but we expect things to pick up once the Albert Pujols situation is resolved. As of now, the Mariners are seen as the favorites, but the Cubs, Blue Jays and Marlins are also in the mix.
  11. Jon_Heyman Jon Heyman #cardinals in meeting with puols right now
  12. Ken_Rosenthal Ken Rosenthal Source: #Cubs still involved in Pujols talks. Extent unclear. #MLB
  13. Didn't really know where to put this... Jon_Heyman Jon Heyman Carlos pena has decided he will NOT accept arbitration. #cubs
  14. I'd rather not eat all that money to trade Z for Bryan LaHair.
  15. This is becoming a real [expletive] storm of conflicting reports and conjecture. just how jed and theo want it
  16. i thought morales died. plus, its pujols and you have a DH. you find room.
  17. Ken_Rosenthal Ken Rosenthal Sources: #Angels pursuing Pujols. Ongoing conversations
  18. Because money is hardly a concern, but years are? Are you being serious right now? Spreading the money out over more years and paying more later is smarter anyway. All that really matters is the total dollars spent. Are you telling me you'd rather do 150/5 than, let's say, 180/9?? Well first off, Pujols isn't going to sign a deal for 20 mil. But I'd pay more now for a shorter contract for a guy who is 32 and coming off his worst year yet than be stuck with him during his brutal years (which could be 3-5 years based on that contract), yes.
  19. Because money is hardly a concern, but years are? Are you being serious right now?
  20. in my head he's a Cardinal until I see the press conference.
  21. Ken_Rosenthal Ken Rosenthal Sources: Meeting between #Marlins and Dan Halem of commissioner's office was indeed about matters relating to possible Pujols contract.
  22. Enrique Rojas of ESPN Deportes reports that Hanley Ramirez does not want to play third base and wants to be traded if he can't play shortstop.
