    Two league sources tell the Chicago Sun Times that Chiefs college scouting director Phil Emery is in the "driver's seat" to replace Jerry Angelo as the Bears' next general manager. Emery worked in the Falcons' front office when Atlanta drafted Michael Vick, and has been with Scott Pioli in Kansas City for the last three seasons. A 31-year football veteran, Emery's background is strictly in college scouting.

    Texas' biggest hurdle is obviously that it's in Texas. It seems he wants to stay near home. He's close to his parents and I believe he's got a brother with some health problems? It's going to be an interesting 12 days.

    DGB taking his official to Arkansas this weekend and Mizzou next weekend. Apparently Maty Mauk is coming down on an unofficial next weekend as well to put the full court press on. Petrino is using his in-home next week. Pinkel used this past week and rumors say it went really, really well and the family is pretty sold on Mizzou, but who knows. I think Mack Brown is using an in-home next week as well. It sounds like OU has faded out and down to Arkansas, Mizzou and Texas officially, but might really just be Arkansas and Mizzou. I'm slowly getting my hopes up. I enjoy being disappointed.

    Despite coming off a significant wrist dislocation and fracture, Bears LG Chris Williams is expected to be healthy "well in advance" of training camp. He's also expected to be penciled in as a starter, with Lance Louis at the other guard, Gabe Carimi and J'Marcus Webb at the tackles, and Roberto Garza at center. Williams, the 14th overall pick in the 2008 draft, was coming on strong as both a pass and run blocker before the wrist injury in mid-November.
