  5. .... and I apologize, too.
  6. I know it's only 1 game...... but Jones has not started against a lefty yet this year. Fred, this season means nothing so far. But, the off-season. Well, that's a pickle, now isn't it? Where was the platoon acquisition? C'mon, Hendry doesn't understand stats or doesn't want to understand stats. They don't have a focus on it, and that's been clear for a long time. There's really no defense of Hendry available on this one, as I'm sure you well know. Not necessarily trying to defend Hendry, but maybe Piniella ?? Time will tell.
  7. Wuertz has made 4 appearances so far this season, as has Cotts, Eyre & Ohman. Only Howry, with 6 appearances, has more, while Dempster & Guzman each have 3. 04/02 - 04/14 IP H R ER BB K HR PC BB/9 K/9 HR/9 WHIP ERA Cotts 4.7 2 0 0 0 5 0 81 0.00 9.64 0.00 0.43 0.00 Dempster 4.0 1 0 0 1 7 0 44 2.25 15.75 0.00 0.50 0.00 Eyre 4.0 5 5 5 3 7 1 81 6.75 15.75 2.25 2.00 11.25 Guzman 5.3 7 2 2 1 4 0 76 1.69 6.75 0.00 1.50 3.38 Howry 5.7 7 4 3 1 5 1 92 1.59 7.94 1.59 1.41 4.76 Ohman 2.0 0 0 0 3 2 0 33 13.50 9.00 0.00 1.50 0.00 Wuertz 3.3 1 0 0 2 6 0 50 5.40 16.20 0.00 0.90 0.00

  9. I got just 3 words to say to that.......... Greyhound Package Express lmao, the nearest bus station is close to 2 hours away and i'll be lucky to get up b4 3-4 in the afternoon tomorrow...if you really want em' i imagine i could get em to ya, but if ya say ya want em, i'll have to remind ya that i tried to pawn em off on ya , to no avail, after the home opener No.... I expect to be at least 500 miles away from here by the time the games starts on Monday. I was just trying to point out that you could still get 'em up here if you had a taker.

  11. excellent glad to hear you're making headway on reclaiming your house...ya got a room for rent?8-[ Are you kidding me ??? I found whole rooms I didn't even know we had !!!
  12. And just why aren't you using them yourself ??? Hmmm ??? one could ask the same question of you concerning todays game...too cold? I got a 35 yard dumpster in my driveway..... and it's almost full !!! I gave the tickets to one of my son's friends. That excuse does not cut it with me! Man.... this is getting to be a tough room !!!
  13. My son and I drive all over the country listening to CUBS games on the XM radio. As most of you know, XM broadcasts only the home team's announcers, so when the CUBS are on the road, we have to listen to the other team's guys. Some of them are good, others not so good...... but invariably it will happen a couple times a game that a crucial play takes place and the announcer will react to the play, but he'll never describe it. I look at my son and say "What just happened there ?", and all he can do is shrug his shoulders. This absolutely NEVER happens with Pat Hughes. He describes every singele play succintly and timely. He never leaves me wondering what the hell is going on. I salute Pat Hughes for the job he does. He ranks up there with the best of all time, and that's not idle praise coming from a guy that grew up listening to Jack Quinlan & Lou Boudreau. The 7th inning stretch guests in the booth are a distraction, to be sure. Pat misses relating a few pitches while the guests are in the booth..... but when the ball in put in play, you will always hear about it.

  15. This is always a good thing.

  17. Following your home town team, eh? Always watch the Astros and Cardinals so I can root for the other team. My 2 most favoritest teams in all of baseball are the CUBS and whoever is playing St Louis today !! That would be the Brewers today. Go BREWERS !!!

  19. I'm talking about the difference between perception and reality. When Murton got over 500 PAs last year and Cedeno had over 550, your assertions about the "Dusty method of helping out the young guy" just don't ring true.
