  2. I really don't care to frame the issue in those terms anymore !!! doh, whatever nerve i hit fred...remember i am young and have very little tact sorry buddy :o I was thinking during the game, as I looked out over the right field bleachers.... maybe I could rent out the Miller Lite sign and put up a pitcher of me with my grandson and a caption that reads..... "Will he have to wait 100 years, too ?"
  3. I really don't care to frame the issue in those terms anymore !!!
  4. It was really great to renew acquaintances with Vance, Laura, Mark_R, Garwilly, Yeti, Swordsman, Sethuel1, CubmanPi, Soccer10k.... and to finally meet CT in person !! (If I've forgotten anyone, please forgive me!) To gather with such a fine crowd really helped to take some of the sting out of the results on the field. I hope we'll be able to target a game or two during the upcoming season for another pre or post game gathering and encourage more of the members to stop by. "Wait 'til next year" has become such a tired old cliche..... but there will, indeed be a next year !!! Remember...... only 126 more days 'till pitchers and catchers report !!!! Go CUBS !!!
  5. Unable ?? or unwilling to pay the price ??
  6. Please..... read that one over and re-post it.
  7. This is what I was thinking as well. Mark.... glad to see you're up and around !!
  8. I dont understand why people keep saying this. The Cubs have one of the better offenses in the NL. They have one of the better rotations in the NL. They have one of the better bullpens in the NL. So why cant they come together as a cohesive unit? If you cant come together and form Voltron all you have is a bunch of goofs riding around in robot lions. best offenses in the nl? the cubs were 8th in runs scored, 8th in slg, 9th in obp, 11th in home runs, and 8th in ops. we were mediocre at best on offense. the cubs probably had the 2nd best pitching overall, but they also gave up the 4th most walks, so it's not like the pitching was lights out. it's disappointing the cubs lost and played like they did, but i don't think anyone should be shocked. Just to back up what Rocket Sauce said......... CUBS offense compared to the rest of the league.......... 09/30 AB R H 2B 3B HR TB RBI BB SO SB CS BA OBP SLG OPS Philadelphia 5688 892 1558 326 41 213 2605 850 641 1205 138 19 0.274 0.354 0.458 0.812 Colorado 5691 860 1591 313 36 171 2489 823 622 1152 100 31 0.280 0.354 0.437 0.791 Milwaukee 5554 801 1455 310 37 231 2532 774 501 1137 96 32 0.262 0.329 0.456 0.785 Florida 5627 790 1504 340 38 201 2523 749 521 1332 105 34 0.267 0.336 0.448 0.784 NY Mets 5605 804 1543 294 27 177 2422 761 549 981 200 46 0.275 0.342 0.432 0.775 Atlanta 5689 810 1562 328 27 176 2472 781 534 1149 64 30 0.275 0.339 0.435 0.774 Cincinnati 5607 783 1496 293 23 204 2447 747 536 1113 97 31 0.267 0.335 0.436 0.772 CUBS 5643 752 1530 340 28 151 2379 711 500 1054 86 33 0.271 0.333 0.422 0.754 LA Dodgers 5614 735 1544 276 35 129 2277 706 511 864 137 50 0.275 0.337 0.406 0.743 St. Louis 5529 725 1513 279 13 141 2241 690 506 909 56 33 0.274 0.337 0.405 0.743 Houston 5605 723 1457 293 30 167 2311 700 547 1043 65 33 0.260 0.330 0.412 0.742 Pittsburgh 5569 724 1463 322 31 148 2291 694 463 1135 68 30 0.263 0.325 0.411 0.736 Arizona 5398 712 1350 286 40 171 2229 687 532 1111 109 24 0.250 0.321 0.413 0.734 San Diego 5612 741 1408 322 31 171 2305 704 557 1229 55 24 0.251 0.322 0.411 0.732 Washington 5520 673 1415 309 31 123 2155 646 524 1128 69 23 0.256 0.325 0.390 0.715 San Francisco 5538 683 1407 267 37 131 2141 641 532 907 119 33 0.254 0.322 0.387 0.708 Average 5593 763 1487 306 32 169 2364 729 536 1091 98 32 0.266 0.334 0.422 0.756 Maximum 5691 892 1591 340 41 231 2605 850 641 1332 200 50 0.280 0.354 0.458 0.812 Minimum 5398 673 1350 267 13 123 2141 641 463 864 55 19 0.250 0.321 0.387 0.708 - current - - - 2006 - - - - 2005 - - 09/30 Avg Max Min St Dev CUBS Rank Zscore Rank Zscore Rank Zscore AB 5593 5691 5398 73.04 5643 4 0.68 4 0.90 1 1.55 R 763 892 673 58.93 752 8 -0.19 16 -1.43 9 -0.34 H 1487 1591 1350 66.08 1530 6 0.65 5 0.79 1 1.53 2B 306 340 267 22.10 340 1 1.53 16 -1.68 3 1.38 3B 32 41 13 6.93 28 12 -0.51 4 0.63 13 -0.91 HR 169 231 123 30.48 151 11 -0.59 12 -0.64 2 1.17 TB 2364 2605 2141 135.85 2379 8 0.11 10 -0.35 2 1.64 RBI 729 850 641 56.69 711 8 -0.32 16 -1.46 8 -0.26 BB 536 641 463 42.52 500 15 -0.85 16 -2.39 16 -1.71 SO 1091 1332 864 121.91 1054 6 -0.30 3 -1.36 3 -1.34 SB 98 200 55 36.99 86 10 -0.32 6 0.82 13 -0.74 CS 32 50 19 7.56 33 10 0.18 14 0.96 12 0.63 BA 0.266 0.280 0.250 0.01 0.271 7 0.55 5 0.62 2 1.29 OBP 0.334 0.354 0.321 0.01 0.333 9 -0.08 16 -2.11 11 -0.78 SLG 0.422 0.458 0.387 0.02 0.422 8 -0.02 12 -0.72 2 1.51 OPS 0.756 0.812 0.708 0.03 0.754 8 -0.08 15 -1.32 4 1.85 This is a very very average offense.
