Maybe he's terrible with runners on base because he is in the leadoff spot? Maybe if he was moved to the 5th he would understand hes now an RBI producer and actually do better in that spot. Hes a major league hitter he can hit anywhere. He already made a huge adjustment to the OF, now he can make a smaller adjustment in the batting order. Eyre was actually really good most of the second half. He gave up 2 ER on August 11th, and didn't give up another ER the rest of the season (19 appearances). And actually, besides those 2 ER on the 11th, he didn't give up an ER from July 4 up until that point. It should be noted for the participants that the first all-star game wasn't until 1933, so I assume it only pertains to those people who won MVP's after its existence. I'm going to throw out the three "one hit wonder" MVP winners that pop into my head, and hopefully you can tell me if it is one of them: I think you're 3rd choice is Jim Konstanty who pitched for the Phillies in the late 40s / early 50s. He won the 1950 MVP, but also played in the 1950 All star game.
