  1. Does anyone else think Lee has been a little pull happy this year?
  2. 16 MPH W for those of us bad at directions, what does that mean? Out to right?
  3. It's a sham. I am beginning to hate Saturdays. Yeah David Ortiz promised me "Evrey Gain Evrey Gain." Why would you lie to me David? I think that was an XM commercial, but yeah, it sucks.
  4. It's a sham. I am beginning to hate Saturdays. CUBS are 5-3 on Saturdays Saturdays are good. Unfortunately, I don't get to see it, though.
  5. Yeah, the first thing you should do is learn to hit the clubs you have as well as you can. Unless your current set is 30 years old or defective, a new set won't benefit you that much (or unless you're so good you need a great set to help you work the ball better). On a semi-related note, nothing is funnier than those guys at the CC with a $2-3K set of clubs who can barely break 100.
  6. I've liked Gracey the few times I've heard him broadcasting. Me too. Mark Grace did too. I really hope the stench of the end of Brenly's Diamondback career is still hanging over him, cause I really fear what would be in line to replace him. I wouldn't want Brenly to go, he's a great color guy, and he and Len make a pretty good team. And Brenly shouldn't go, nor should Stone have. You should be able to make valid criticisms without fear of hurt feelings costing you your job. And I'd rather listen to Grace than Santo any day. Or Dave Otto, Joe Carter or any other Cubs color man not named Steve Stone we've been subjected to over the past couple decades.

  8. You might have a hard time finding a good, smaller driver. If you can afford a Taylor Made driver, it's hard to go wrong. I would buy a TM, but I hit my Nike too well to justify spending on a different one.
  9. Sad but true.
  10. Eh, I like their woods. I play with Nike woods and Taylor Made irons. As for the slingshots, they are kind of ugly. A friend of mine had a set and let me hit them, and I found them to be very easy to strike the ball solidly with, but hard to work the ball with as well. Maybe good for a beginner, imo.
  11. It almost looks like the Padres season ended last year against the Brewers when Hoffman blew that save. Fixed. Yeah, that pissed me off. And Tony Gwynn Jr., too. WTF?
  12. Torres should be able to pick up right where he left off. The incredible news here is that the Brewers are *STILL* holding out hope he will be a miracle. They're not even DLing the guy. He should be relegated to the deepest, darkest corner of Miller Park. But Yost is intent on giving his club the least possible chance to win, so he'll be trotted back out there again, and sooner rather than later. It's getting to be quite comical. I like the "holding out hope" part. They should be holding out hope that Gagne's shoulder spontaneously explodes.
  13. Ozzy, and it isn't particularly close.
  14. Comcast, at least until I can get WGN HD (if ever). WGN on an HDTV is like watching the game through a dirty windshield.
  15. His three year splits show that his post-ASB SLG is 80 points higher than his pre-ASB. Also, his best months are June/July/August, followed by September. April/May show his OPS at .816 and .833, respectively. The rest of the months vary between .928 and 1.026.
  16. Of course not. Today's game is a great example, it was a game the Cubs lose if it's 2003-2007.
  17. I think that what you saw in Boston is a microcosm for the rest of your season. No, every team is not the Sox and the Crew won't get swept every series. But w/o Gallardo and with that pen you are going to be a team that will hit a ton and win a lot of 10-8 games, but won't pitch enough to do much else (barring big time breakout or acquisition). At this point, the Brewers = Astros, except the Astros have a closer who can consistently close well (relatively speaking). Both teams will rake, but both have an ace who is an injury waiting to happen, with four mediocre (or worse) starters following. And the pens, well the bottom three teams with regard to bullpen ERA are Cincinnati, Milwaukee and St. Louis. Milwaukee also allows the most baserunners of any NL pen, and by a fairly wide margin. Sure, you can attribute some of that to Turnbow, but I don't see Zach Jackson or DeFelice being great firemen, either. Plus you have Stetter, who had been your best reliever, suddenly losing his command and returning to the minors, not to mention the Riske injury. Say what you will about the revamped pen, but it isn't looking too good. The Gallardo injury really changed the complexion of the race (to this point).
  18. i don't know why everyone is overlooking the Reds. despite Dusty, they're the only team I have any concern about keeping the division race close. they have a ton of talent, which will only improve once they replace Griffey with Bruce and Belisle with Bailey. I don't think too many are overlooking the Reds. Everyone was looking at them as a dark horse prior to the season. But Cueto has not been what we expected out of ST. Volquez has been stellar and Harang is Harang, but the rest of that staff sucks. Their bullpen is terrible. Bailey will help, but not enough, and it may well be too late by the time he arrives. I expect they may finish second, but only because their staff may end up being less terrible than that of the Brewers and Astros. That team will hit, though.
  19. You just don't get it...this is not a very good analogy as it relates to the current scenario. Yeah, I don't get it. Bitter distaste for a guy that had the nerve to play on another team and beat the Cubs. And stopped to watch a homerun. OMG! No Cubs have ever done that (or, for example, shown up opponents by doing a "hop" after every homerun)! I hate him for life and want to boo him and (insert gay joke here)! All this vitriole has very little to do with him possibly no longer being an effective player. i think you'd be surprised. most people on this board don't want him on the cubs because he sucks at baseball. Yeah, but they're not the ones pissing and moaning. oh i've pissed and moaned plenty, and not because edmonds used to play for the cardinals or is gay. I feel the same way, but while Edmonds is bad, think about this: 1. Pie hasn't been slighted by this. The pooch has been screwed regarding Pie for weeks now. In fact, he may be better off in Iowa, because he sure wasn't getting any AB's here. 2. As woeful as Edmonds OPS was in San Diego, Johnson's has been worse in May, and the two are trending in opposite directions. IMO, Johnson = Edmonds. Neither should be playing in front of Pie, but that point is really moot. So really, signing Edmonds doesn't make any difference whatsoever, save maybe that he and Reed could make a decent platoon, and it could get Kosuke moved up the order. All of this hand wringing over Edmonds is just stupid. I don't care for the guy, but some of these people who are acting as if their child's rapist just joined the team need to grow the hell up. What most of us are upset about is that Pie isn't playing. While the Edmonds signing reinforces that, any hope that Felix was going to get his shot this year was false, and deep down we all know that. Yes, Edmonds sucks. But he doesn't really make the team any worse than it was, and the Cubs aren't paying him squat. Expressing our distaste for Edmonds isn't going to make Hendry or Lou and less dense. Let's move on, it's done.
  20. Three words: gamma-irradiated twinkies.
  21. I'd love to plug into that, but from what I understand the vast majority of Cardinal-dom couldn't care less. There are a lot of die hards that were on the brink of being physically ill at the thought of their precious "Jimmy Ballgame" in a Cubs uni. A lot of them.
  22. Yeah seriously he's doing exactly what I thought he would, be very cold and get extraordinarily hot. He still has a terrible approach at the plate, unfortunately. But no one was arguing that. Some people seemed to be of the opinion that because Soriano was slumping to start the season, he was done. Obviously, this was ridiculous. The rest of us realize that Sori is streaky, and that while his approach sucks, the net results do not.
