  1. I know the Hawks are the flavor of the month, but I just can't bring my self to care.
  2. Should happen, won't happen. It's time to start thinking about selling.
  3. You obviously didn't I can Rammy being a douche, but having a big year this season would have behooved him, so I don't think he has mailed it in at all.
  4. Howry walked gomez, counsell bunted, gomez tried to take third on the play, Nady threw the ball over Tracy, Gomez scored.
  5. Don't remember seeing a game end that way before.
  6. Yeah, walking Gomez to start the inning is a great sign. LOL, awesome.
  7. The whole thing is quite plausible (I can imagine Ramirez being an enormous douche), since scrutiny can make people do funny things. But I don't necessarily believe it.
  8. John Axford looks like he was recruited from an Appalachian trailer court or discovered on an episode of Cops.
  9. Nope, still looks like an old hobo.
  10. I agree with N&G, Fukudome is the clear answer for leadoff, and Soriano absolutely needs to be in the middle of the order right now. Soriano leading off wouldn't be a bad idea if Ramirez and Lee were doing their usual thing, but that's not happening, and it doesn't appear if it will be anytime soon.
  11. I'm not talking about professional analysis. I'm talking about buzz, hype, etc., you know that stuff generated by fans and the masses. And it's not half as ridiculous as saying he's the best pitcher in the game after his first start. so you're basically saying that you know better than the uninformed masses. congrats, i guess? I don't see why you think this is worth talking about. I'm saying people get carried away with hype. well that's new information Yeah, and that's pretty much all I have been saying.

  14. Oh [expletive], you got me. Oh, wait. you didn't. I didn't say he wouldn't be special, I said I didn't think he'd live up to the hype (you know, the he'll be historically good-get his HOF bust ready stuff). It was really, really impressive. But it was one game, and it was the Pirates. What Kerry did was far more impressive, and we know how that one turned out. Strasburg has a better command of his repertoire, and looks like a special pitcher. But a lot of people are having hyperbole laced, premature baseball ejaculations over the guy. He's good, but he's not pitching Jesus. Actually, you very clearly said he wouldn't even "come close to the hype." I meant long term, clearly. Only a moron would make total value judgments based on one game. People are literally shooing him in for the HOF. That's the hype I'm talking about. ahahaha literally no one is saying that Not here, but around the net/media. I can't count the times I heard HOF-caliber or historically good used in regards to Strasburg. People have been talking about him as if he some sort of singular force of nature. Hell, saying he's the best pitcher in MLB right now is preposterous enough on it's own. He has amazing talent, polish and a huge ceiling, but saying anything beyond that is just premature.
  15. I've said a few times I think he'll be special. His debut was awesome. But when people are speaking of him as if it's a stone cold lock he'll be historically good, a reasonable person can't help but be a bit incredulous. The hype has literally be astronomical. Is that really that difficult to understand? Or do we want to keep parsing my statements as if I'm just trying to take a crap on the guy?

He's good, but he's not pitching Jesus. playing devil's advocate is only fun as long as you don't make yourself look like an idiot in the process No, you're right. Clearly he's the best pitcher of all time, he just showed us that. Let's just give him his Cy Youngs and HOF plaque right now.

  19. At this point in their careers, definitely. Yeah, as far as polish goes, for sure. But as far as talent goes, I don't think so. And I don't think Strasburg will live up to the hype, or even come that close. I think he'll be really good, but I'm not buying into all the hype, either. It may just be me, I think these days we're seeing and hearing a lot more buzz about prospects than we used to, and often times expectations are just too high. good call I meant long term, chief. But clearly one game against the Pirates is what counts.
  20. Yeah, that was one of the top 10 stupidest things I've ever heard a "baseball person" say.
  21. I picked the wrong time to bench Lilly on my fantasy team, I guess. That, and Theriot is garbage. Lou needs to go Fontenot/Baker from here on out, but he won't.
  22. Easy there, Curt Schilling.
