  1. Yeah, that 3.5 era and 1.20 whip are really awful. Do you only post to complain about Dempster? That you focus on him of all things is just weird.
  2. If he keeps this up, he might.
  3. But if he stayed with Cleveland and he never won a championship, wouldn't his fame take a good hit? There's risk that he wouldn't win no matter where he went. He'd still be an amazing player wherever he went and he'd be THE guy on that team...except if he went to the Heat. Obviously, he still has a ton of talent, but his role is potentially going to change drastically, and this is already being looked at as clearly being Wade's team. He must have realized that would have happened, and that's what's so lame about it. He basically weighed all of his options and decided, "yeah, I'm cool with being the second in command." As someone tweeted on Thursday night "LeBron woke up a young Jordan, and he'll go to bed Scottie Pippen". If that's what he wanted, good for him. I just think most people thought with all the King James and "witness" business, that LeBron was something more, or at least perceived himself as being something more. But if he thinks winning a few titles with the Heat is going to allow him some claim to being on Jordan's level, he's in for a rude awakening.
  4. There are like 4 die hard Heat fans. It's only fitting this happened to a team with so much bandwagon room, in a place with so many fickle people.
  5. LOL, the Nazgul, I love it. I suppose this makes LeBron the Witch-King of Akron. A bit on Chicago Now with some of the better tweets from last night: LINK
  6. Yeah, now he's not quite the runaway leader as biggest douche in the NBA.
  7. A week ago, I had a neutral opinion of James, and I didn't have a strong interest in where he went. But this fiasco has been the biggest "hey, look at me, I'm important" production I have ever seen in sports. Straight up ego massage. And it culminated with the most unceremonious f-you to a former team (not to mention a real hometown team) ever. You tell the Cavs FO you're leaving, take out an ad in the paper, and sign a contract. I find no fault with Wade.
  8. I have to say I thought LeBron would choose Cleveland for sure when I heard about tonight's special. I thought this because I didn't believe he would rub his signing with another team in the faces of his fans like that. The way he announced it, along with the team he signed with (taking the path of least resistance), showed the world what a selfish, cowardly, self-aggrandizing, narcissistic piece of [expletive] he is. And he pretty much just flushed any chance he had a being considered the greatest of all time down the crapper.
  9. Just when you thought the NBA couldn't get any less compelling...it does.
  10. I'm not buying LeBron to the Heat. He wants to be the man, and he won't be in Miami. He'll be the best player, but it won't be his team. It's Cleveland, Chicago or NJ/NY. I think Wade and Bosh to Miami and Boozer to Chicago helped the Bulls' odds. I also thought the Cavs might still have nabbed Bosh in a s&t and sealed LeBron, but now I think things are wide open.
  11. I'd say 95% Cavs, 2.5% Bulls, 2.5% Nets. The announcement of a special wrapped around his presser screams Cavs to me, mostly because it would seem like rubbing in the face of his hometown fans otherwise. I won't rule out the Bulls because it does constitute his best shot at winning and being the man, or the Nets because of Jay-Z. The Knicks are an unmitigated disaster, and I will absolutely floored if he chooses them.
  12. I don't like the idea of trading Byrd, unless it's to get a team to take a bad contract a long with him. He makes relatively little, gives good production for his position, plays good defense, and has 2 remaining years. It really is a good contract, and I really like Marlon's energy. Colvin isn't much better than average on the corners, and sure isn't good in CF. Kosuke is better, but he isn't going to wow anyone in CF, either. Considering Soriano is nigh immovable, Kosuke is the one you have to try and deal. Now if Lee can be moved but not Kosuke, I think you might let Colvin try out 1B, at least for the rest of the season.
  13. Yeah, no more Hendry. Good at trades, bad at everything else. Really bad.
  14. Not if the Bulls have a Rose/Wade/Bosh/Noah core, he isn't.
  15. Sounds like the Knicks meeting went a lot like this: http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/Cloudstrife219/vogon_poetry2.jpg
  16. It's way too early to be wondering whether Ricketts is a Cub fan or not. He probably just wants to see first-hand how Lou and Hendry operate for a year before making a decision on them. Frans aren't going to show at Wrigley and the Cubs aren't going to become more relevant (if they've lost long-term relevance) depending on who the GM and manager are. Fans will show up if the team wins and Lou and Hendry are not holding this team back from winning. Also, again, it's not going to have that much of a real effect firing Lou and Hendry right now. Unless Ricketss plans on promoting from inside for either position then the replacements for the season would be stopgap guys anyway and not likely large improvements (or improvements at all) over Lou/Hendry. Exactly. I think it's a safe assumption Lou and Hendry are gone after the season. The fact they aren't now only tells me they just want to clean the slate after the season, and probably hire replacements from outside the organization. Speculating over whether or nor Ricketts is a Cubs fan is stupid. He is a businessman first, and has to realize when firing someone and paying out the rest of their contract for nothing will help, and when it won't. Firing Hendry and Lou now won't help the 2010 Cubs. The said they'd give Hendry a year, and it won't hurt them to be good to their word. Like I've said, if we're in November and no changes have been made, I'll start to worry.
  17. Agreed. Hes gonna try, it wont be enough, but he will give his all. Yeah, plus I'm sure he has aspirations beyond the end of this year. Being known as a GM who did a half-assed hack job on his way out the door certainly wouldn't help them. My only problem has to do with the qualities he would look for in prospects returning in trades.
  18. Hendry is good at trading. I'd be fine with him orchestrating a fire sale. Greg Maddux for Cesar Izturis is not good. Who are some other trade deadline deals that made us all giddy with delight? Steve Trachsel? Since Hendry probably knows he has no future with this team, I don't trust him to make any deals that could impact the future. Nomar, but the Izturis deal brings us back to even. Nomar, Ramirez/Lofton and Harden all come to mind.
  19. Hendry is good at trading. I'd be fine with him orchestrating a fire sale. Greg Maddux for Cesar Izturis is not good. Since Hendry probably knows he has no future with this team, I don't trust him to make any deals that could impact the future. He hasn't been in sell mode that much. His moves to acquire help at the deadline have been pretty damned good.
  20. So you're not good at fantasy baseball? Marmol, Soto (if Lou would play him) and Soriano aren't bad fantasy options. Dempster is solid as well. Those are the three I have. My league doesn't count walks against pitchers, so Marmol is a gold mine. I also have Soriano and Lilly on the bench. And my team is in first place.
  21. Not too much to read between the lines there.
  22. Masochist that I am, I still watch most of the games. Partly because I have several Cubs on my fantasy team, partly to see Castro/Colvin, and primarily out of morbid curiosity.
  23. As they say, for every hot girl you see, there's some guy who tired of f@#ing her. Who says that? I think the correct saying is "for every hot girl you see, there's some guy who is tired of her [expletive]" kinda different No, what he said is pretty accurate. No matter how awesome a chick is, there is a decent chance she will be taken for granted by some douche. Guys like variety, saying they're sick of their woman's [expletive] is just the excuse they use to chase other tail. But don't get me wrong, some women (and men) are legitimately intolerable.
