  1. And, after last time, zero credibility.
  2. Nah. If they started obeying NCAA rules, that would mean the suspensions would stop, and eventually they'd be able to field a good team again. I'm comfortable with OSU continuing to dig themselves into a hole. Preferrably one that lasts a decade, or more.
  3. I wonder how many FCS teams would beat UNLV. They look terrible. on the other hand, wisconsin (for one year) is not boring old run the ball 50 times a game and win despite a mediocre qb. Going to the Rose Bowl is not boring. For a team like Wisconsin, that's what matters. Not making Sportscenter with highlight pass plays. it's what they've done for several years. ohio st played the same way under tressel. i wasn't saying it's wrong to win that way, it's just not interesting to watch. Understood. All I'm saying is, around here people wear it as a badge of honor, and find it very exciting.
  4. Three things that are against Baltimore: 1: They're Baltimore. 2: They are runned by Peter Angelos. 3: They're in the AL East. No worries about the Orioles. That should be reason #1. It wasn't always so bad to be Baltimore. They were very good from '66-'83, and the 90's had a couple of teams that tried and then lost their pitching to the Yankees (Wells and Mussina). Clearly the Cubs would get first pick of the field over Baltimore.

  6. freeman got sacked half as much as cutler and bradford would get smooshed and go away forever. Freeman's offensive line was actually almost as bad last year Clearly Cutler was under way more pressure, running for his life way more.
  7. If you were expecting an upset tonight in Badgertown, not looking good.
  8. Doesn't surprise me, everyone thinks the Bears were flukes last year. From a national perspective, I'm not sure I blame them. Then again, we did beat 2 of the other 3 conference finalists (Packers, Jets) last year, beat everyone's favorite, the Eagles when they were pretty untouchable, etc. I guess I would have expected at least 1 person to pick us. But when you are in a division with everyone's favorites to win the title, and everyone's favorite surprise playoff team, its hard to be considered. When most people considered you a fringe contender last year and your offseason sucked, they aren't going to think much higher of you. The thing is, many times the teams who are deemed to have good offseasons still suck.
  9. I'd take Freeman, Bradford and maybe Schaub ahead of him. not with our offense I can see that argument with Schaub but I'd still take Freeman and Bradford over him. Bradford had the worst WR corps in the league last year and Freeman had an absurd TD/INT ratio as well. I would think those two (especially Bradford) will only get better in due time. You're probably right, but I think both those guys are at a point where they'll either continue to improve, or take a step back. I don't see it as a given that they'll continue upward. Probably, but not certainly.
  10. Yeah -- got to remember, it would be with no offensive line and precious few valid receiving targets. I think Jay does a fine job given his circumstances. Turn the tables on this thing: how would Cutler perform with top protection and great targets getting open all the time, and finishing routes as expected?
  11. As for Alex Brown, why not just pick him up? I don't see why we wouldn't. Cheap, another body, knows the system.
  12. I don't know about that. I'm not sure how the salary cap hit comes into play with his bonuses from the uncapped year, but I can only guess there would be some hit from cutting him. Obviously with the space this year you can both fit him in there and afford the hit from cutting him, but I'd rather not have him count at all against next season. Also, while Unga may not be ready on week 1 to be the 4th RB, I would think he could be ready down the line when it actually matters. It wouldn't be the worst thing to keep him around for depth purposes, but how useful is that depth when the guy was as god awful as he was last year. Some undrafted rookie should be able to do the same thing. The only thing he could possibly bring would be the pass blocking, which I presume will take a newer player some time to ramp up.
  13. It would be nice if a few of these guys started to show something, yes. Looking at those first 3 games, I'm concerned in general. It's not a favorable launch-pad for our season. That's 3 quality opponents right out of the gate. Right now, I'm thinking hook or crook methodology: steal 1 of the 3, that will be enough to put my mind somewhat at ease.
  14. Any chicks drinking MD were about as slutty as they come. So it *does* get the job done. Hmmm.
  15. Eventually the Lions actually will be a winning team. But until then, I just can't bring myself to predict it. They've been bad for so long. They need to prove it first before I give them any respect. It's funny that the Lions are continually picked to be good, and they usually suck. The Bears are usually picked to suck, yet we somehow wind up putting together solid seasons every once in awhile.
  16. The checkbox fiasco was foreshadowing of weirdness to come.
  17. Good. It didn't seem like he was impressing anyone. I wonder where he goes from here. I would have loved for him to turn his career around here, but oh well, he's a buckeye. I would have loved it too. Maybe he gets one more shot on someone's roster before the season starts, just for a cup of coffee. Otherwise he'll need to decide whether he wants to try football at a lower level (Arena, Canadian), or look for another line of work.
  18. It was a spending spree. They spent a hell of a lot of money. They just did it terribly inefficiently and wasted millions of dollars. I didn't expect Chester to be that bad. I thought it was too much money, but that we got a decent 2nd RB option from it. So I, for one, can't claim that I knew CT would turn out like this.
  19. Not worried. Last year we couldn't make a FG in preseason, if you remember.
  20. It doesn't sound like he's long for the team.
  21. Another nice drive, though.
  22. Very nice drive. Cutler executed perfectly. The OLine protected well. Forte had a couple nice cuts to save losses and turn them into gains. 7 points.
  23. No harm done, as the Titans decided to take shots at the end zone and couldn't execute.
  24. Oy. Didn't take long for the first catastrophe.
