    I'm really hoping they don't win the West, though it's not as if the Cubs fare any better against the Padres. (sorry for tempting the baseball gods with playoffs talk) I don't think the Wild Card will come out of the West, and I do think the Padres will eventually catch up to and pass the D-Bags once they fall back to earth. That would mean the Cubs' first-round opponent would be the Mets, and in that case the Cubs would get absolutely steamrolled. If we got steamrolled by the Mets we would have the consolation of knowing we got beat by a team with solid talent. I still don't think the DBacks are good. They're winning games, but I strongly suspect they are living off career years from more than one player.

    Yup, exactly. The Cubs are fighting for a playoff spot and getting screwed with a ridiculous strike zone, but the new Lou just sits there and takes it. Why does even a known fiery manager become a teddy bear when he puts on Cubbie blue? Not saying he should blow up all the time, but Lou's never done this in his entire career. Why?

    Pretty hard to watch when teams are just going to pound the outside against every hitter we have, then an ump comes along and decides to give them 2 feet off the plate to work with. Lou should have come out and got in the ump's grille tonight. This is stupid. I don't care if the ump gives it to both teams, it's still just plain old NOT A STRIKE.

    Lilly got beat really bad once in this game, and his cost him 2 runs. It would be a crying shame if that loses this one for him because our offense sucks. Other than the HR ball, he's looked good tonight.
