  1. Basically the only thing I don't like about the current regime is that they tell us nothing about anything of any significance. It's the right thing to do and it makes perfect sense that they don't, but I still miss having an idea of what we were planning.
  2. Fueled by the teachings of the "Cub Way," Junior Lake has a major breakout year and by the end of 2012 he's the Cubs' #1 rated prospect and a top 50 overall prospect.
  3. I do think it make some sense for the Cubs and Nats to have discussions about Byrd, but ultimately I'd say the Nats won't (and shouldn't) be willing to give up much of anything for what would be a marginal upgrade over Ankiel. Byrd is better than his 2011 WAR shows since he won't get hit in the face every year (presumably), but he's getting a bit older and isn't better than a nice player at his best anyway. For a guy they don't need to trade, I think Theo/Jed would/should be asking for more than it would make sense for the Nats to give up right now for Byrd. That said, if the Nats are sitting in contention by the trade deadline and Ankiel's been bad and Byrd's had a resurgence, then I think he becomes a really attractive option for them. Just not right now.
  4. Seemed kinda crazy not to. They need to lock him up long term.
  5. Not that this would happen, but a receiving corps of Kenny Britt, Nate Washington, Damian Williams, Jared Cook and Mike Wallace would be incredible.
  6. Soriano has a year similar to 2007 and Theo/Jed cashes in on that in the offseason, getting far more than any of us expected for him.
  7. Garza will have a similar year to last year and Dempster will be comparable to him.
  8. So, what thoughts do we have on allowing trades? I'm thinking it'd be worth trying out, while hopefully not going crazy with it. If we don't allow trades, we'll definitely be wrong on the second pick since the Rams are shopping it and somebody is almost certain to acquire it. If I could get a few people giving a yes or no on the general idea and maybe how they'd like to see the trades work, I'd appreciate it.
  9. Maybe something like a running tally - every time myself or a mod updates the thread title to show who's on the clock, we could make a post showing who the next 2-3 picks will be so that person can begin to get prepared. I've also encouraged people who are coming up soon but are unsure if they'll be available to make the selection, to PM me a list of 2-3 players they want in order of preference. That way I can go ahead and give them a little time and then go ahead and make the pick with their highest priority option. If more people would do that, it would probably fix that problem.
  10. I'd like to do more than just 1-2 rounds, so we'll need to start before free agency opens - which is March 13. I was thinking around this weekend to start.
  11. Everybody's assigned who posted today. ManCrushOnNomar, I gave you the Dolphins.
  12. Harrison Smith and Dre Kirkpatrick are two guys I'd really like the Titans to look at in the first and second rounds (Kirkpatrick in the first and Smith in the second) if either is available.
  13. That's a good thought. I'm concerned that we can't get too regimented, though, or too many people won't be able to participate.
  14. Good point, I forgot about comp picks.
  15. I believe I got all of you assigned right. By the way, I'm still waiting on soccer10k to volunteer for the Raiders and their entire draft of 2 picks - a 5th and 6th rounder. It still amuses me that that's all they have this year.
  16. Thanks. Seeing him mocked to the Titans intrigued me because I knew he was really raw. As much as I like upside, I'd almost prefer somebody a bit more polished, though, since we desperately need help rushing the passer right now - especially if we let Jason Jones walk. I'd really love Coples, but can't imagine him falling anywhere near 20. Perry would be a terrific pick too if he slid, but I tend to doubt he will.
  17. Thoughts on Whitney Mercilus? The Titans need an elite type pass rusher to put across from Derrick Morgan and I saw Mercilus in one mock draft. I'm really struggling to keep from getting excited about Dontari Poe - 6'3, 346 with a 4.87 40 and 44 bench reps. That's incredible.
  18. That's an interesting idea and I could see it working well, actually. We have had the problem in the past of knowing a team wouldn't be selecting in the spot they were, but still keeping them there and this would fix that problem (which we definitely face with the Rams). I am a bit concerned about going crazy with it, though, and ending up with something that doesn't even closely resemble the current draft order. Anyone else have thoughts?
  19. i didn't sabotage last year. but i'm just kidding. give me the seahawks and take me out of the packers' war room. Gotcha. And you were good last year, I was being unfair. Flames, you are now heading up the Packers' war room (which I'm sure will grow).
  20. I swapped Theo over to the Steelers and gave Raisin the lead in the Bears' war room since raw already has the Texans. That work for everybody?
  21. That's fine. I think for once we're going to get the Colts pick right! I fully expect the two of you to go with RGIII just to keep your streak going.
  22. I'll give you the Bengals and put you in the Bears' war room as well. And trading isn't allowed - it's a really interesting idea, but can get kind of messy. I'm open to discussion on it, though.
  23. The chat is only one way to communicate. Generally when I've been in war rooms with others, I've communicated exclusively through PMs with them leading up to the pick. I know AI is a Steelers fan and generally gets into the mock draft, so you may have company there as well.
  24. Gotcha Splinter and WF22. And Splinter, I'll give you the Browns if we need to start doubling up. Same for everybody else who has volunteered for a second team.
  25. I think I got everybody assigned so far. Sulley, no sabotaging.
