  1. Yeah, the age makes me less excited about the deal, but are corners really that likely to drop off considerably in their early 30s? My biggest concern is that all three of Claiborne/Fitzpatrick/Jenkins will be off the board by the time the Titans are on the clock, leaving us with Jason McCourty and Alterraun Verner as our top 2 corners this year (and a middle of the road FA signing we'd likely make). Maybe I'm being swayed by need too much, but a third rounder for a guy who just turned 31 doesn't seem like a bad deal at all. Unless he's already started showing signs of decline, which I guess is what I'm asking.
  2. Next 3 picks after Cleveland: 5. Buccaneers (minnesotacubsfan) 6. Rams (Formerly Snayke) 7. Jaguars (rawaction) Again, if anybody isn't sure they'll be available to make the pick, shoot me a PM with your top 3 choices.
  3. What are some of the thoughts on here of Asante Samuel? The Eagles have him on the block and apparently (according to CSN Philly) are looking for a conditional 3rd round pick. The Titans have been rumored to be interested, but apparently aren't willing to give the necessary 3rd rounder. With our need at CB after losing Finnegan, this really annoys me. Should it, or am I relying too much on reputation in thinking Samuel's a really good CB and well worth the trade?
  4. The next 3 picks following Minnesota: 4. Browns (gorbs27) 5. Buccaneers (minnesotacubsfan) 6. Rams (Formerly Snayke) If you're on this list, you can figure your pick will come up sometime in the next 24-72 hours. If you may not be available to make the pick, PM me (if you haven't already) a list of 3-4 players and I can make your pick.
  5. A lot of people have said the easiest selection to make in this draft is the first pick and Andrew Luck. I disagree, as I think the Redskins' selection is the easiest - they simply have to write down the name of whichever QB the Colts don't take. Therefore, the Redskins select Baylor QB Robert Griffin III. Not only is he a terrific talent, but he's almost as perfect a fit as you can get for Shanahan's bootleg offense. I think RGIII can really thrive in this offense and despite all of the drama going on in Washington, I think this is the best spot for him to succeed as well. hawkeyecub and the Vikings are now on the clock. I'll PM him.
  6. I'll try to remember to do this each time I update this thread to help people remember if their pick is coming up soon. Here are the next 3 picks following the Colts: 2. Redskins (dew) 3. Vikings (hawkeye) 4. Browns (gorbs27) This way hopefully if a person/war room feels they won't be available in the likely timeframe to make their pick, they'll PM me (or a mod) their top 3 choices.
  7. raw has the Jags and I've given myself the Redskins. We are now full and can begin the mock draft. I'm going to keep the pick limits at 24 hours because of oddball schedules and simplicity's sake. I'll go ahead and post the first round order on the first post of the thread and the Colts can make their selection at any time.
  8. Roster turnover does not necessarily equal tanking one or more seasons. We could have made every move we made this offseason and still have justified adding one or more of Pujols/Cespedes/Darvish. You don't just add major free agents when you're on the brink of being great, you add major free agents to make your team better. Right now, short of splurging unwisely on FA pitchers next year, I don't really see any way we compete next year. Had we signed Pujols (or Darvish or Cespedes), it'd be a much more realistic thought to compete next year.
  9. He did volunteer for them. I misread his later post, though, thinking he wanted the Texans instead of the Seahawks. If he still wants the Seahawks, he's got them though. I'll also update everybody else as well. Raw, if you want the 49ers, you can have them. Raw - not me? Sorry, just saw your post. You've got the 49ers and raw has first dibs on the Jags if he wants them.

  11. Gotcha. And I'll take the Jags as well as the Titans. That leaves Bills, Redskins, Saints, 49ers, and Seahawks.
  12. I'm bumping this thread because if we're going to start April 1, then we need to fill the teams ASAP. We have the Bills, Jags, Broncos, Redskins, Saints, 49ers, and Seahawks still available for anyone who wants them. We should also go ahead and start doubling up, so if you want a second team, let me know.
  13. Yea, that's pretty hilarious.
  14. Even in this awful division I doubt we'll be hanging around by the ASB, unless we get really, really lucky with a few guys. We've had this debate before, but I just don't see why a perennial 90-win team and fielding a competitive team this year is an either/or proposition. You can do both. I have no doubt this plan will work, I just don't see how it was the optimal plan. Especially now that the Cards and Reds have taken a couple of pretty big blows.
  15. This is the #1 reason I'm frustrated by the Cubs putting no effort into winning this season (and maybe next as well). This is an incredibly winnable division before all the injuries and now it could be feasible for a barely greater than .500 team (85 wins?) to take the division. We hardly had to sell out the future to give ourselves a fighter's chance this year.
  16. Donnie Avery to the Colts. Not a bad move for them.
  17. How are we doing the keepers, by the way? I've selected a few that I definitely want to keep, but I'm not sure how many I can keep. Is it a system where I lose auction funds the more I keep or is there a hard limit and my auction funds are the same regardless? I've never done a keeper league before, so I'm really in the dark on this.
  18. Anderson was quietly very good for the Colts last year. Yeah, not the first rounder he was drafted to be, but I really liked the idea of the Titans grabbing him. Too bad the Bengals jumped in first, but I'd rather have Wimbley anyway.
  19. I'm back in.
  20. Bengals sign Derrick Harvey and Jamaal Anderson. Good low risk moves there.
  21. Bah. Titans had shown interest in him and he would have been nice CB depth to go along with McCourty and Verner.
  22. We're only 2-3 years away from being good because we've passed on talented players like Cespedes. You add talent like him, your window moves a little closer.
  23. It's rare that I would ever support passing on premiere talent when the money is available. I did when Dunn was available, while admitting it was risky, but completely passing on the high-end talent this offseason made no sense to me. On the 1B situation, Rizzo's a nice player, but he's still unproven and he cost us Cashner. Pujols is a risk due to age, but he only would have cost us money, something we should have plenty of and should remain plentiful with the exceptional drafting/developing abilities of our front office. On Cespedes, it's simply a good gamble. Yeah he may bust, but then we're just paying him $9 million a year - his defense should nearly cover that. However, the upside was to have an elite talent in the corner OF at a ridiculous bargain. It's the type of smart move I expected our front office to make. That said I wouldn't advocate adding all of those players, more like 1 of Pujols and Darvish + Cespedes. Or even just one of them would have been better than nothing.
  24. Pujols, Darvish, Cespedes. There's obviously debate over what a "decent contract" is for each of those, but they are all guys I'm varying levels of disappointed we didn't get.
  25. Titans signed Kamerion Wimbley yesterday. 5 year/35 mil deal with 13.5 guaranteed and 11.5 of that in year 1. Love this move.
