  1. If this deal happens, I don't see any way the Falcons go for a QB with the 1st pick. They've got Schaub who is the reason they might trade Vick in the first place. My guess if the trade happens as has been discussed: Falcons take Joe Thomas with the first pick because their o-line is awful and the Raiders take Ginn/Jarrett/Meachem/whoever they like at receiver.
  2. Excellent decision. He will likely be in or near the top five Heisman candidates preseason and should be guaranteed a first round selection next year if he repeats his numbers. I think that's highly debatable. Brohm, Ainge, Henne, and Booty are all likely to go ahead of him. The last spread QB taken in the first round was Losman and he's been very mediocre in the pros, not leading a lot of credence to spread offense QB's translating their collegiate success to the pro game. A lot will depend on team needs (how many QBs go in the first round) and who declares/has a good season. Assuming Brennan repeats, he'll be behind Brohm for sure. Henne and Ainge are potentially susceptible to having less than standout years. Henne I'm not completely sold on (a lot of that offense seems to be Mike Hart) and Ainge will be without a true threat at receiver for the early portion of the year with our three top receivers leaving and the current crop talented but all with a year or less of experience. Also, I don't think its a guarantee Booty leaves early. Brennan could be anywhere from the second to the fifth QB taken. Minor detail but Booty will be a senior next year so he won't have the option of leaving early. You and your annoying technicalities. I (obviously) thought Booty was a sophomore this past year and would therefore be a junior in the upcoming season. Since he is coming out then, I put him about where Ainge is. Meaning he could be the first QB or the third-fourth QB taken. A lot depends on the season he has. The main thing going for Booty is that he's much more likely to have a great year than Ainge because he's got more talent around him.
  3. Wow. Sucks for Russ Grimm. This was a false report, I guess. Pretty much everyone is denying it now. Interesting goings on. ESPN is reporting it's a done deal. But I just heard Adam Schefter on NFL Network say that noone with the Steelers or Vikings are confirming anything. He thinks the Steelers may have chosen Tomlin, but are waiting until Monday to make it official. EDIT: ESPN says sources have told them the deal is done, according to the link. They also say there is no confirmation from the Steelers or Vikes. My opinion is they're waiting until after the playoff games Sunday so as not to steal the playoff thunder and also have somewhat of a spotlight for their announcement. This hire reminds me so much of Bill Cowher, its scary. I think they made a great hire and I'm very excited. I liked Wiz, but I think this is a great choice. Its going to be fun to see how it goes. Yea, I think that Cowher thing turned out pretty well. :) Tomlin seems to be a good option, though I'll admit I was fully expecting Russ Grimm to be the next coach after Arizona grabbed Whisenhunt. Grimm would have carried on the Cowher/Steeler tradition it seems.
  4. I wonder if Kiffin will now bring in Sarkisian as his offensive coordinator as Sarkisian was going to do for Kiffin? Risky signing for the Raiders as I don't know that Kiffin has that much experience, but it could pay off big.
  5. Not based on my interpretation of the statement on nfl.com. I think you may be right.
  6. Would they not be behind the losers in the divisional round, even if they have a worse record? It seems they should be 29 because they have a worse record than the Pats.
  7. How does that work? Out of 32 teams, the 2nd seed in one conference picks before 7 other teams? 1-20 are non-playoff teams. 21-24 are the teams knocked out in the first round. 25-28 are the divisional round losers. 29 and 30 are conference championship losers. And 31-32 are the Super Bowl teams. The Saints are, then, either 29 or 30 it seems.
  8. They didn't align for the Pats with Reche Caldwell, Jabar Gaffney, Chad Jackson and Kevin Kight. What is it with the Pats and former Florida receivers? That's most of their receiving corps.
  9. I like Willis a lot. He's my nextdoor neighbor...another reason I'm really big into him!! :D :D He's a humble, humble guy as well. He's probably the best LB not talked about nationally. Not a lot media coverage on him even though he might be the best LB in the draft (if I'm not forgetting somebody).
  10. Though I know I'll likely become very unpopular for saying this, I will anyway: The Vol QB is far better than the Gator QB though.

  12. Heavy doses of Larry Johnson and Jamal Lewis weren't enought to beat the Colts alone and Johnson is (with all due respect to Bear fans) a good bit better than the Jones/Benson duo. In order to beat the Colts, the offense must score probably in the 20s and the Bear defense must be stout. You're not going to win a shootout with the Colt offense and probably the second best running back in the game today (Larry Johnson) with possibly the best offensive line in the game today couldn't beat them solely on the ground. It's gonna take a full team effort for both teams, without question. And it'll certainly be a great game. :D
  13. They can't. It's that simple. They can't. And they didn't. Pats will not go 80 yards. The defense will hold.
  14. They can't. It's that simple. They can't.
  15. TOUCHDOWN COLTS!!!!!!! 1 MINUTE AWAY FROM THE SUPER BOWL! 38-34, Defense absolutely must stop the Pats. No question about it. Peyton has done his part, no more "Peyton chokes".
  16. Possible, but the important thing is to score the TD. Gotta trust your D.
  17. Very weak roughing the passer call there. But I'll take it.
  18. And at least three people in Tennessee. Great drive so far by the Colts and Peyton. Easily in Vinatieri's range if not a touchdown.
  19. Or not. Damn, quit choking on it, Peyton! Like I said, where were the open receivers? QB's gotta have help, I don't care who you are. I agree, but I hated the play calling there. That's still not the fault of Peyton. It was normal Colt offense in this situation.
  20. Or not. Damn, quit choking on it, Peyton! Like I said, where were the open receivers? QB's gotta have help, I don't care who you are.
  21. No receivers got open on that drive. Absolutely none.
  22. I agree. If the Colts score here, the "Peyton chokes" people oughta shut up for good.
  23. But the defense did it's part after a long pass play. It's all up to the Colt offense now, 34-31 Pat lead. Put it in Peyton's hands.
  24. Vinatieri's amazing. Glad the Patriots no longer needed him. 8-)
