  1. Ricky Nolasco His 5.42 ERA is haunting my dreams 8-) Nolasco was excellent last year (3.52 ERA, 1.102 WHIP, 186:42 K:BB), but struggled to open this year. Since a demotion at midseason, though, he's been very good again. June: 1.91 ERA, 0.970 WHIP, 33:5 K:BB July: 3.76 ERA, 1.101 WHIP, 35:8 K:BB
  2. The evidence doesn't show that. In July he is hitting .245 and in June he hit .273. His OBP has risen steadily every month. He's not been a source of power this year, but he has gotten on base very well the past couple of months. Maybe we need to bat him second then if he's going to continue to be all OBP and no power. I definitely think he should bat second. I'd love to see a Fukudome/Bradley 1-2 part of the order.

  4. Josh Kinney in to pitch for St. Louis.
  5. Park Ks Ludwick, inning over. Phillies still lead 8-5 heading to the bottom of the seventh.
  6. Holliday with an RBI double to left. 8-5 Phillies, Ludwick up with runners on second and third.
  7. bahahaha They have no idea right now who is doing it.
  8. There's a stoppage in play because somebody was shining a green laser pointer at Lugo.
  9. Howard almost had an infield single, but was called out. Heading to the seventh, 8-4 Phillies.
  10. Reyes is warming up. And now he's coming in.
  11. Utley doubles down the right field line.
  12. Victorino homers to right!!!! 8-4 Phillies!
  13. huh? he's playing ss and batting 6th today for the big club. Well, I can't read. I was looking at his minor league numbers on baseball reference and saw that he was in high A - but that was last season. Grand slam Jimmy Rollins!!!!! 7-4 Phillies!
  14. i feel like brandon wood will still be a prospect in 2019. i think the angels will do that... aybar is pretty important to them. not really sure what they want with saunders though; he's already 28 and will have 3 years of service time after this season. I may have misunderstood, but I think Rosenthal said the Angels turned the deal now. Not positive, though. If I were the Blue Jays, I'd wait the Phillies out a bit more. if they traded both aybar and wood, kendrick woud be their only 2B, figgins would be the only 3B (robb quinlan sucks) and maicer izturis would be their only SS. kendrick was so bad that he was farmed out until early July, figgins hurts his hamstring every season and izturis also tends to get some little injuries. they can give up wood but not aybar; giving away both guys would kill their middle infield depth. toronto could try to throw in scutaro though. Any idea why Aybar is back in high A right now?
  15. Ruiz flies out to right. No advance by the runners.
  16. Feliz singles to put runners on first and second with one out.

  18. Id do that deal in a heartbeat if Im the Angels. That'd be their #1 and #3 prospects. Wood's only 24 and has posted very good minor league stats. Aybar is back in high A right now though - any idea why? I'd probably do it too, but I've always liked Wood's potential.
  19. Lopez induces a double play to end the inning. Heading to the bottom of the sixth, 4-3 Cards.
  20. Rosenthal just said Jays asked Angels for Brandon Wood, Erick Aybar, Joe Saunders and a prospect for Halladay.
  21. Ankiel homers to right. 4-3 Cards.
  22. Howard scorches a ball right to Pujols, who has an easy double play on Victorino. Heading to the sixth, still tied.
  23. Well of course, who cant pitch through Pujols and Holliday? Its Julio Lugo you have to worry about Good point. I don't know what I was thinking.
  24. Lopez pitches through Pujols and Ludwick (I think) to get out of a jam. Still 3-3 in the bottom of the fifth.
  25. The purpose would be to free up money. And if we had to pay a decent portion of his contract, we should get valuable players/prospects in return. Then wait until the offseason to dump him. But trading him now to get prospects in return isn't smart (unless you get a bat in return) because it only hurts the team. And if the Cubs pay a decent portion of the contract, it wouldn't be freeing up all that much money. If the Cubs pay half his salary from here on out, they'd free up $4 million next year and $6 million next year. That's decent savings for a cash-strapped team and there's a chance they'd pay less than that. Saving part of Milton's contract might free up enough money for somebody like Dunn. I'd take prospects from the Tigers and then Dunn from the Nationals (though we'd obviously give them prospects as well) quite happily.
