  1. corey is a boras boy I've tried searching for the same kind of website.. no luck. If anyone knows of any, please share. http://www.mlbcontracts.blogspot.com I have that link already, but where do they list the players' agents?
  2. Well, he has played shortstop for Expos and Dodgers. ...badly.
  3. If CPatt's bat were as steady as his glove, Jim Edmonds would be recognized by everyone for the drag queen he is. :P
  4. He might be able to do that if he didn't have: 1) A high priced wife who sucks every last dollar out of his bank account and 2) An agent who keeps telling him he needs to hit home runs or he won't get paid. I didn't know Corey got married? Has he been married for long? And who is his agent? Is there a site that lists which players have which agents? The ironic part is that patient hitters wind up getting the HRs. Take Lee and a pre-roid Giambi (who is getting his form back - think it's "help"?). And that translates into bucks.
  5. OTOH, the lineup turns over next Cubs AB. Would be nice to see a 1-2-3 inning with Williams on the mound right NOW.
  6. I wonder how Corey would do if he followed two rules: (1) Just try to get the bat on the ball. (2) Aim to get a minimum 5-pitch AB.
  7. Come on, Barrett - smoke one out of here.
  8. I think THIS one was accidental, though. :)
  9. I just really despise Eck. I sure hope he Ks. The way he crowds the plate, he needs to get drilled on principle.
  10. Yeah, his one daughter might be all the Barrett's get. YEOW!
  11. Who's the Cardinals' backup 1B? John Mabry. Used to be (one of) the catchers. Tino Martinez is back to being a Yankee.
  12. Straw poll time: how do you think the Cardinals' offense would be if Pujols were not in the lineup?
  13. As long as we don't give them back and then some. And there is that negative point of view I bet I've seen more games than you, my dear. :-) From a Cub fan's perspective, that isn't negativism... it's realism.
  14. As long as we don't give them back and then some.
  15. Shock the crap out of me and take a walk, Jeromy. Well, a stand up double is just as good. Wish the trajectory had been a few feet to the right, or this game would have been tied.
  16. Um, they got clobbered in the WS and all of those games were on National TV. Yeah, but it's not the same unless the CUBS do it. The WS was sweet, but it kinda felt like your big brother kicked the crap out of the bully for you - get it?
  17. I used to think like that too, but as the decades pile on and the cycle of incompetence continues, I can see where a person would have had his fill. Heck, at times during the losing streak, I wished that I could turn myself into a Cardinal fan!
  18. Bring it. :D (that is, if Good Prior and the Cub bats show up)
  19. Well, the Cubs and Cards do have an off day on September 19th, right after a 4-game series vs. the Cards at Wrigley. The Cardinals only have to travel to Cincinnati for Tuesday, and the Cubs would just be going up to Milwaukee. Making up today's game on the 19th wouldn't be the worst tragedy in the world. While I'm kind of bummed about not seeing the game, a rain out wouldn't break my heart. Williams would be skipped, and it would be Prior vs. Matty Mo on ESPN tomorrow. Sure would be nice if the Cubs clobbered the Cards on national TV for ONCE - double treat because it would put Joe Morgan's knickers in a twist! :D
  20. UGH, I'm surrounded by children. Hey, I'm a kid (at least, I like to think so), but I know MASH! :-) They're just culturally illiterate, that's all. ;-) PM me if you get a chance - curious to hear how life is going for you and the "goils" of late. :-)
  21. *Points to CPatts post* That's the reason - city ordinances. With Daley running Chicago (White Sox fan and also all-around nepotistic jerk), the Cub org also needs to tow the line pretty closely. Most of the rest of the postings to this topic are MORANIC. ;-) (Mis-spell is intentional - it's an NSBB joke, based on a mis-spelled sign by Cards fan.)
  22. You should pose that question on Rivalries. Jake has been practically livid about the moves Littlefield has made to sell out the team.
  23. Please sweep the Astros! Lawton has been suckage, so the least you could do is help us gain some ground this weekend... we dug ourselves in a DEEP hole over the past couple of weeks (not counting the last two days, of course). :)
  24. I don't. The Pirates did quite well in the 90s when the Cubs were just dreadful. Those were what Jake might remember as the good old days - when Jim Leyland headed the ship, and there was Bobby Bonilla and a pre-roid Barry Bonds. I think those Pirates teams were the last days of Whiteyball, where speed and hits (not huge HR) were the order of the day.
