  1. He might settle down. At least Lester has some run support, which I hope he doesn't manage to [expletive] up.
  2. Well, too bad no slam, but I'll take the run. More though, pls.
  3. Anything else significant about that date? Yeah, seems there was a couple of young engineering students down in Champaign that got married that day. Sign that the times are a-changin' in some ways, but not in others: I thought, "Guys? No, that was 1948."
  4. I guess he's not terribly interested in riding the pine again. Pat: "Matt Szcur becomes the key man in the inning." That does not exactly inspire my confidence.
  5. Nicely done! Good set up by Rizzo, good execution by Starlin. Now, if I can just get the audio feed to stop switching back to Jon Miller..
  6. God I hate the Sox fireworks. Suckage, Kyle. I got work to do. Can you guys please just get ONE of the games at the Cell Block?
  7. For now. This game could get pretty ugly before it's all over.
  8. So this is what it's like to have a table setter...
  9. He's a bit on the beefy side but I don't think that's fat beef. He's just a big dude. Anyone recall what KWood weighed in his prime? Rizzo's build reminds me of his.
  10. Tangential question: how fit is Rizzo? 240 seems pretty hefty -- will he need to trim up once on the "wrong" side of age 30?
  11. It's a shame Stoney went to the South Side. you have cooties now, because i really like stoney too Haha! Well, I learned a lot during his WGN broadcasts. For one, respecting 90 means you don't EVER slide into first base. And some good predictions -- the one that stands out was his constant one that Mark McGwire would break the single season HR record (used to say this when he was in Oakland) if he stayed healthy. So, I guess Big Mac did what he thought he had to do to get through the season... :-"
  12. i didnt say it was a worse than old comiskey. just that it is average when compared to other modern parks where the world still reveres wrigley as a crown jewel of MLB parks. The point was trying to paint the massive inferiority complex many Sox fans seem to have toward the Cubs. Devil's advocate: what about Fenway in terms of most revered? Gotta remember that East Coast bias.
  13. I shook my head at the Cubs MLB front page: the Sox' opposing pitcher being an "old friend." That was a little while ago; Smardjweqitgeqw is going to be tough. I hope I'm wrong. But as I am a Cubs fan, it wouldn't be the first time.
  14. How about a rainout? I don't like to root for the Cardinals. What I really hope is that the Cubs can snag at least one on the other side of town this weekend.
