  1. Tim Kurkjian was on baseball tonight saying how he felt that Bonds could really help someone, but he didn't see any suitors given the baggage. He also mentioned he would have to take a big paycut from $15 mill this year. I don't understand it. Any AL team that gets Bonds for $10 million is getting a steal.
  2. I can't even fathom all this talk about losing being good for a team. Cubs have fans in spite of their pathetic record, not because of it. The only people the "lovable losers" label matters to is the media and casual baseball fans who really don't care about the team. Fans want the team to win.
  3. plus monroe sucks beat you LOL. That was my first thought when reading the title of this thread.
  4. I'm pretty sick of this Wrigley Field is hurting the Cubs finances nonsense. It's pure Tribune Company Propaganda IMO. What a load of crap. They still sell out every single game with some of the highest ticket prices in baseball. We'll see how economically viable the Cubs are when we see how much they sell for. These rich dudes aren't stupid. As long as the guy cares about winning in addition to finances, I don't care who owns the team. It will be a refreshing change over the money grubbing Trib.
  5. It wasn't looking so great last night when we were down and the Brewers were up. I won't get excited until they clinch it. How many times this season could we have built a big lead just by treading water against bad teams, and look where we are now.
  6. I think that's the magic number, right there. Just win every series. then have a dead heat between AZ and SD so SD can't rest Peavy against the Brewers It would be nice for SD to cool down a bit so they are playing for their playoff lives against the Brew Crew in the last series. The worst thing is if SD has nothing to play for and decides to rest everyone for the playoffs. That said, if the Cubs don't pull this one out, they can only blame themselves.
  7. Why doesn't ESPN just shut up. IT DIDN'T MATTER! Man out, man on first, run scores. Stop perseverating in the stupid play.
  8. At least we cleared the black holes at #9 and #1 during that inning.
  9. God, I could look better than that on an AB.
  10. Wuertz is bound to walk in like 4 runs with this a-hole behind the plate.
  11. This plate umpire should be beaten with an extension cord for his ridiculously inconsistent strike zone.
  12. This is a tiny strike zone tonight. The huge one of the first 2 days hasn't worked for the offense, so hopefully, this works out better.
  13. He missed the pitch he should have crushed. It was close enough with two strikes that you don't watch it go by. That pitch wasnt even close, noway you can fault him for taking it. This strike zone is BS and how Lou can sit on his ass and not say something about it is beyond me. If this ump called every game, we'd be back to the dead ball era. He has a huge zone from inside to outside.
  14. That ump is ridiculous. He's been giving that pitch all night, and only the D-Backs seem to be hitting that spot. Davis has walked 80 guys in 150 innings and he was getting that freaking call all night. Led to 1 walk. And worse, he was giving him the high and inside pitch also.
  15. I hate to whine about the strikezone, but the ump keeps giving them a Glavine-like low and outside pitch. It's throwing us off.
  16. I actually like what he said about Bonds.
  17. What'd you do that for? Weeks just led off the eighth with a hit.
  18. If the Cubs lose this one in extra innings, it might just end it all.
  19. I knew Aramis was going to hit Cruz.
  20. Neither were the pitches to Theriot. Bonds just went deep!!! 9-6
  21. I hate it when whining starts to pay off.
  22. I want to say Chase Field started in 2004. Not sure, though. Thanks to my incredibly awesome roommate, I'm mooching his MLB.TV. No CSN in Muncie shall not affect me! It was cool when they called it "the BOB". the "CUF" doesn't have the same ring to it.
