  1. It would have taken an absolute mauling for him to draw a foul there. He probably had a better chance to sink the fadeaway jumper than he would have to go to the basket 1 on 5. That's not on Rose. That's on Thibs for not figuring out another option with LeBron defending Rose. That's a bad matchup for Rose and you have to go somewhere else. I was thinking that as it happened and Legler said the same thing post game. And I like Rose's chances driving by LeBron better than his chances shooting on him.
  2. It would have taken an absolute mauling for him to draw a foul there. why? the refs are actually an advantage in that sitution if youre a superstar At least go for the floater. A fadeaway 17 footer is not what you want. There was an open lane toward the basket.
  3. Just watched the game on DVR. I still can't fathom why DRose didn't drive to the basket with 8 seconds left and the game tied. Force them into fouling. That was the game.
  4. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/basketball/bulls/ct-spt-0524-bulls-rose-offense--20110523,0,5350740.story They need to start taking some outside shots. To me, that's the key to the game and its really simple. If Miami wants to plant 5 guys in the paint, don't try and force it inside. They have shot like low 40% this series. If Luol, Boozer, Taj, DRose, etc get an open jumper 14 footer, then shoot the damn ball. Should be able to do better than the 41% you make by driving into 3 guys and getting swatted and not getting a foul call.
  5. Well a lot of people in the media have been calling out the pick and roll saying that it just brings an extra defender to Rose. Could it be Thibs is going to give in to the media that easy? He really hasn't all year. I don't think it will be as simple as going iso with Rose.
  6. Rachel Nichols on Sportcenter just said that Rose wants more isolation tonight and wants to be more aggressive. Should be interesting.
  7. I think that's a little crazy considering LeBron is playing great defense right now, and Dirk, for all his awesomeness, has his issues on the defensive end. And offensively, Dirk has been absolutely amazing, but LeBron has quietly been pretty damn good too. Not as much as Dirk but the difference isn't enough to overcome Dirk's D No doubt you're right about the defense. But I don't think you overvalue the trait of being able to carry the team offensively when everyone knows you're going to be the one to score. Only a handful of players in history could do that, and LeBron isn't one of them. Really? LeBron can do it, he just doesn't seem to want to all the time. Yeah, really. I won't argue about his defense, passing, and athleticism. He's overrated as a scorer. And he could be great at it given his physical tools, he just isn't.

  9. Dirk is a freaking beast. He is at the point where he can single handedly carry a team offensively when everyone knows he's getting the ball. Only truly elite players can do that. Switch LeBron and Dirk right now, and I can honestly think that Miami gets better and Dallas gets worse.
  10. Yeah, you're right.
  11. If someone said that Dirk is the best player in the NBA right now, I wouldn't necessarily argue.
  12. Good post. Along those lines, Bulls aren't helping themselves by setting a ball screen for Rose on most possessions. All it does is bring an extra big man up near Rose and get him momentarily trapped and he has a hard time seeing over them to make a good quick pass for an open shot . He really doesnt need a ball screen to beat Bibby off the dribble, so all the screens do is destroy floor spacing. I dunno. I think one problem is that Miami is trying to take away the inside and the Bulls are trying to force it inside. In game 2, they got a ton of good looks from outside. They missed a ton of wide open 3s. They even shoot an average percentage from 3 or open jumpers, then they win game 2. Yesterday, it seemed like nobody wanted to take an outside shot. They kept trying to force it inside against a defense that was collapsing and playing passing lanes. Clearly, Miami is going to double Rose and try to get it out of his hands, which has been working pretty well. They are also overplaying passing lanes and playing off guys. Guys like Deng, Taj, Boozer, Bogans have to knock down a mid range jumper or 3 its there, and then crash the boards if it misses. Miami isn't exactly winning by getting to the basket either. Bosh scored the majority of his points on jumpers. LeBron and Wade are scoring on jumpers or fast breaks. I think the Bulls have to take what's given and make a shot.
  13. Hopefully, David Stern will tell the officials call it lopsided in favor of the Bulls in order to extend the series.
  14. The bulls aren't playing well. But the refs have easily cost them 8 points. So go [expletive] yourselves.
  15. What a surprise. Another momentum killing call.
  16. It might be less infuriating if it weren't so one sided in Chicago as well.
  17. We have to chance with this FT difference. Incant even believe they called that one.
  18. That's a foul but all the muggings on asik arent.
  19. Spoelstra always looks like the dumbest kid in class after the teacher says something that everyone gets but him.
  20. Can you imagine the pressure of being drafted, showing up for minor league camp and trying to perform? The whole process of going through HS, college & the minors will weed out the guys who are "unclutch". That's a good point. Never really thought of that because I've never spent a ton of effort trying to debunk theories formed as a result of tiny sample sizes. Also, I disagree that being "unclutch" is any more likely/feasible than being clutch. They're both bogus analyst talking points used to fill space on a broadcast. Nah. I disagree. I believe in clutch. I think golf is a great sport to measure this. Golfers have been choking for ages. Take Greg Norman for example. Greg Norman was the best player of his generation, and when majors came along, he'd choke. 2 major wins, when he's probably led 20. People can argue all they want regarding sample size, etc. But anyone who watched that Masters against Faldo saw a man choking. Here was a guy who played golf when he had no money, played through smaller tours when his paycheck depended on how he played, made it to the PGA tour and world #1 ranking, and he choked like a dog in majors. If emotions can clearly affect the way one plays golf, I don't doubt it can affect the way one plays baseball.
  21. It's funny to follow the trends of the media and fans. After game 1, everyone thought it was all over for Miami. Now, everything is all over for Chicago. I was definitely excited after game 1. But IMO, game 2 was more important for Miami than Chicago. The Bulls have already shown they can beat and even dominate Miami. If they went up 2-0, I was thinking the series would go 5, maybe even 4. Now Miami showed it can beat us. But it's not like we didn't know that. But please. The defense was good, but the Bulls missed shots they should make. Poorly defended shots were not dropping. And Miami hasn't shown it can consistently score on us unless they are on the fast break. Their half court offense has been horrible for both games. If Miami is so giddy that they beat a team that shot like 35%, then let them be giddy. And if the Bulls continue to shoot that way, they'll lose. But I'm not giving all the credit to Miami's defense. Like I said, I'm still calling a Bulls victory. Unless Miami shows us something it hasn't yet, I think the Bulls will win.
