  1. you know, I guess I never put it together that the Cubs and Hendry has a boy scout kind of quality until you mentioned it. I was on board the Bradley idea. I don't think the Dodgers would want Williams and Patterson for him though. I am also opposed to the Floyd idea and pro signing the Nomar to another year until he gets hurt over Furcal (who will end up in Shea). Cedeno filling the spot once Nomar's groin flies into the stands. Is there any indication that Giles does not want to be in Chicago? I would love to have him in the outfield. Bradley Walker Lee Giles Ramirez Garciaparra Barrett Murton As for Weaver, he eats innings, but he's not the ace they once thought he would be, I think he needs the larger parks to be consistent (Detroit and LA). How cheap do you think Morris would be?
  2. wow, you are way off. I am a Cubs fan. I'm just bitter that the NL Central was representive of the NL for two straight years and couldn't muster a win. but, to answer your question, no, I don't think the Sox will repeat. I think their pitching was good, but relying on Contreras and El Duque outide of Garland (high ERA) and Buerle won't come up on the right side of things again next year. Although, I think you'll see the emergence of McCarthy. Depending on whether Konerko stays, the offense will need some retooling.
  3. Rumors have the Cubs eyeing Pierre if the Marlins let him walk, I am anti this, anyone else?
  4. both the Astros and Cards were swept. QED.
  5. Sox sweep. Man, the NL Central blows.
  6. next year should be more of the same. Here are some interesting free agents: Tom Gordon Rey Sanchez Matt Lawton Alex S. Gonzalez Dave Hansen Shawn Estes Tim Worrell Kyle Farnsworth Todd Hollandsworth Lenny Harris Ismael Valdez Jose Vizcaino Paul Bako Michael Tucker Mark Grudzielanek Julian Tavarez
  7. why even waste your hope on this team, they are poor. Cincinnati is 9 or 10 games under .500 consistently and they have beat the Cubs 7 out of the last 8.
  8. He's here to learn from Macias. lol...oh wait... :(
  9. I would like more points for the bulbs and fewer points for Tim's teams. I want to make the [expletive] playoffs at least once before retiring, I'm tired of being the Cubs of Roadkill.
  10. nothing like winning 5 of 6 to set up our next 8 game losing streak. Nice combination win for the pitching staff. Bad offense again. Neifi gets the RBI, but he also accounts for 4 outs. He takes the team lead in GiDPs with 20.
  11. I don't understand why they wouldn't pick up Walker's option if they didn't trade him this year. If they don't, why not lete Hairston play his natural position and Cedeno his. Apparently the Cubs have already decided they are not bringing Nomar back, which makes me wonder even more, why Dusty isn't giving Cedeno as many chances as possible. He is ridiculous with his old school you have to watch [expletive]. The Braves and A's seem to trust in the development of their system. This is much like McGriff getting all the playing time over Choi in September of 2002.
  12. Neifi took it upon himself to replace Alou and has grounded into 20 double plays this year! That leads the team.
  13. so I was the only one who didn't think so?
  14. what are "playoffs"?
  15. all it takes is one undisclosed mistake for Dusty to bench a rookie... http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20050906&content_id=1199576&vkey=news_chc&fext=.jsp&c_id=chc
  16. Everyone who thought Dempster would have 20+ saves this year raise your hand...
  17. lol...well we won't lose at Busch next year.
  18. yeah, I re-read what I posted and thought, well that makes me sound like I always disagree with you. I honestly think this team has a better offensive chance to win with Murton and Cedeno in the lineup. At least Murton works the counts.
  19. well it would be nice to have a winning record at busch this year. I'm not normally one to agree with you (not you in paticular, but on this point), but I think it would be a positive thing, because the media loves to bring up the Cubs record over the last few years at Busch all the time. If this was a game against the NL West or East, I am totally for using Cedeno and Murton in every lineup. Also, let Murton face a rightie every now and then.
  20. I didn't need him to hit a homer, I just did it for fun! Although, not advised while at work.
  21. here's the collapse I thought I felt...
  22. this guarantees that Pujols will get up again.
