    Cubs are about 23M from the second luxury tax threshold. When Bob Nightingale prematurely reported Gallen signing with the Cubs he had the deal being 22M on average.

    If Valdez's market is really down because of the bad teammate stigma, maybe the Cubs bet on the highest paid manager in the game and the Cubs clubhouse to negate that.

    Rea is tradable before June 15 according to Arizona Phil because he was never technically a free agent if I recall correctly.

    I guess you're unfamiliar with NY media. It's still to this day a different level. A $50m dollar deal essentially replacing Pete Alonso is a different level of microscope. In LA he's joining the Beatles.

    The Red Sox make a lot of sense for Shaw , he's from Mass. Is he enough to get Duran or Abreau? Either one of those Gold glovers in the outfield with Armstrong & Happ would be a pitchers dream.

    If Tucker is really looking at a three year deal scenario with Mets, wouldn't he surely prefer playing in Chicago with old friend Alex Bregman?

    Tyler Beede to the Cubs- Drafted in the first round twice. Top 100 guy, Pitched in Japan. Runs his own pitch lab/ Driveline place in Houston.

    Won't be long before twitter has the Cubs still connected to Cody Bellinger. I know everyone believes them to be done and they probably are but standby.

    I was hoping the same. Lots of depth on the market still to grab another cheap reliever, outfielder, bench bat ect for just $$$. At this point you know you're going over with trade deadline needs anyway.

    Looks like the deferrals put them right at the tax line. Was hoping they already pushed past it and no looking back. Still a lot of depth options available better than Scott Kingery talent wise.
