    It's interesting we've haven't seen a lot of rumors connecting the Cubs to any other bats besides Bregman.

    I think the Cubs had a run the last few months on late signings and needed some of this money from the trade to cover that . Jamis Martinez is signing in next years class with the Cubs so it's not going towards him.

    Blue Jays will surrender their second- and fifth-highest selections in the 2026 draft plus $1MM from their international bonus pool in 2027. For fun with deferrals for LT purposes the deal comes out to $26M AAV...... $ 1M dollars less than the Cubs are paying Shota/Rea this season.

    29 with a minor league option/ 1.1M .....for the price they paid prospect wise I was betting on them rolling the dice with him again.

    The faint belief in 2024 was that the Cubs could eat the salary of guys like Bellinger/Tallion in 2024 and make them even more attractive trade candidates tipping the scales in terms of contract matching the value on the field.

    Makes the Bieber deal even more mind boggling. There was a lot of talk of the Braves letting Iglesias through waivers in August to save money and today he's getting a 16M dollar deal. This makes a Jansen market what a one year deal in the 16-19m range?
