  1. I don't think Hendry would deal for Baez to knock Dempster out of the closer role, Baez would be nice in the eight with Wuertz ,Ohman, Willamson ,Rusch for the eight. I think Remlinger will be dealt. I think we will have to be a closers ransom to get Baez though question is he more effective than other set up man on the market? Would Hendry look to get Huff or Lugo in a package deal from Tampa?
  2. If Boone replaces Macias I wouldn't mind him coming off the bench as a pinch hitter, he's a good defender and still has some pop in his, he's also a smart baserunner with a fiery attitude. He hasn't played third base before but 8 games in the early 90's I wonder if he could be a backup thirdbaseman if Aram needs a rest, Boone has a strong arm. Maybe the Cubs are talking the Mariners about Winn, Ibanez, Everday Eddie and as a throw in might get Boone back in a deal.

  4. the price will be high on Baez , I wouldn't mind either of the Royals relivers because there still young enough to take steps forward and can be pieces of a solid pen for years.
  5. You can complain about a lot of things Baker does but lets not blame him for Patterson. No matter where you hit in the line up a slider in the dirt or a face high fastball it's still the same. Baker makes Corey a average at best bunter? Come on guys you have grips with Baker but trying to blame him for Patterson is just too much. Patterson is a bust , he might be an average player some where else but he needs a change .
  6. To be honest the Corey Cartel would have crashed this board had we traded him for anything in 2003, even two years later the blame will be on Dusty not on Corey for his failure to do anything but defense which has seemed to slip this season. A lot of us thought the backlash of the Choi for Lee was way overboard and he was a productive young proven first baseman with speed , gold glove and power.
  7. I hope we see a shakeup before this weeks over , be it Dustys Job, Patterson dealt, something because this coma this team seems to fall into a lot is really a joke.
  8. are fans cheering for the misery to end?
  9. Wife beater gets the walk , Wilkerson due up next
  10. I like the gutsy call by Robinson there.
  11. I'm Guessing the Padres, Yankees, Twins in that order.
  12. 2003 we seemed to have some swagger from the big Three in the rotation. Last year was the whiners. Whats the identity of this years team? They seem to be running in place . After last years collapse and this year starting off Slow even with the injuries when we will we see one of the players call the team out like Billy Wagner has done with the Phillies someone other than the manager going on a tirade to ignite his team , I remember Wood blasting his teams play I think 2003 before a series in St Louis can't rember if it worked or not. I just want to see some emotion from the players on this team or better put well directed emotion we've seen Zambrano have his troubles and last years emtion been thrown at announcers and media instead of on the field
  13. nice play be nefi hopefully it gives the Cubs some momentum.
  14. Jerome doesn't seem as overweight as the reports made him out to be when we first got him in late May.
  15. Looking for everyone's photos of Wrigley and other Stadiums.
  16. "Neifi Perez: Cardinals manager Tony La Russa winces when asked about Perez's being perhaps the best backup middle infielder in the big leagues, saying he looks at him as a regular. That's what he has been since Garciaparra tore his groin muscle on April 20, and he has been adequate in the field and a streaky hitter at the plate. Perez hit .368 in April but has been sliding ever since. He's a free swinger who rarely walks, making him a poor fit for the top of the lineup. Baker hits him No. 2 because he believes he needs Todd Walker in the sixth spot as protection for Ramirez. Garciaparra is in Mesa, Ariz., rebuilding strength in his leg and hopes to be back for the second half of the season. The Cubs have a torrid hitter in Triple-A shortstop Ronny Cedeno (.371-7-30 in 52 games), but Baker's not one to go with kids." http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/story?columnist=rogers_phil&id=2095672
  17. good to see Willamson getting stretched out with two innings stints. How many innings does he have under his belt so far?
  18. In sundays Trib Phil Rogers says that the Cubs are high on Burnetts personal wish list this offseason which includes the Orioles, Yankees, Red Sox, Blue Jays, Rangers, Angels. Sounds like Burnett's list just includes teams with the payroll to give him the 10 million a season he's looking for.
