  1. ESPN's got a story about how Jim Leyland is looking for a job again.
  2. Not really, it's been reported he actually approved the deal that was orignially "done", and would not veto a trade. last I read Griffey was saying no one came to him with anything and until they do he has no comment.
  3. If there's a way to make his contract look better I could see Grifffey heating up for a playoff drive.
  4. I am amazed at the lack of action so far.
  5. Could Hendry be making a play for Soranio to play second base? Walker, Mitre, Wellymeyer for Soranio ? Kearns or Dunn for Patterson,Marshall, Koronka?
  6. Wood will throw one inning Tuesday in Peoria
  7. nobody vaules Kelton . Welly,Koronoka, Hairston for Pierre?
  8. Where in the Admin/Mod explanation (earlier in the thread) did it say that he was banned for posting a rumor? Unless I missed a post the explanation was that he's a troll but they can't tell us why? Sure his post looked fishy but the rumor he heard from his source was pretty much on considering Reds Announcers picked it up in Cinci. If he was trolling he would have pulled it out it of thin air. I noticed a lot of rolling of the eyes of because he has a source , not to call out Hoops but he has some sources and is well respected on the board. Didn't Vance have a source in Houston. To say SE wasn't banned for posting a rumor only hours after posting it seems a little bit of a stretch.
  9. Wow I can't belive se was banned for posting a rumor . Maybe he does have a source in Cincy and the deal fell through it happens all the time. I really think some back pedaling needs to be done fast. The rumor he did post did have some legs. Bruce Levine should never be allowed to join this board otherwise more than likely after his first post in the transacation forum he would be banned.
  10. Why Carlos Lee? He's nothing special outside his RBI totals. I'd prefer every guy on that list to him. Maybe b/c he'll hit for around a .290 avg, hit about 35 HR and drive in around 120+ RBI..... nothing special eh? I'd rather have Lee than any of those guys actually The same Carlos Lee that's hitting .261? HR totals don't matter to me a ton, and RBI mean little to nothing to me. His lower OBP (albeit with a high SLG) diminishes his production. All 4 of those other guys create more runs than Lee. This thinking is getting out of control. How can Rbi's and Hr's mean nothing. Some of you guys like to talk about runs created, and I have no idea how all that stuff works. What I do know is that the best way to create a run is to hit a homerun. I'll also take a guy with a 150 rbi over a guy with a 150 walks. Agreed . A lot of peolpe on this board are on the verge of ODing on the stats only the arm chair gm's care about.
  11. gonna have to go against Bruce there's no way Hendry does not do a Hill for Dunn. If the line had been along Hill and Patterson is not much a match for Dunn with Hendry. But to come out and say Hendry wouldn't do a Hill for Dunn straight up has to be wrong.
  12. Darn, beat me to it :x . Oh well, and no, its not just you. Anyone up for giving Embree a chance, or do we have our own Embree in Remlinger? Why is it that everytime a team RELEASES someone, people think we should pick them up? Boston's bullpen is a mess and they released him. Come on, this is getting silly. well it's not like we have any players on this squad that have been released and worked out well. (Perez, Rusch) or had any in the past that have helped ( Van Poppel , Worrell, Jobo) granted there not huge talents but they contributed . As we get deeper guys that you pick off the scrap heap or call up from triple AAA if they manage to help you win a game or two it's considered a sucess. By the way Embree really sucked this year.

  14. if the cubs went out and traded for anyone not named wagner, guys like Baez ,Guardao would be backing seting up Dempster.
  15. 1908 isn't a good enough reason for a rental?
  16. Can this team play well enough up until the deadline to prove to you that is worthy of a serious buyers mode? If Dunn isn't dealt but there is that one player that can put them over the top do u go the possible rental mode? Do pay a steep price for guys like Baez, Guardaro, Weathes to help strengthen the pen? Or would u prefer Hendry tried the buyer-seller mode.
  17. does that mean activated to the big leagues in five to six day ect or the minor leagues?
  18. If they where thirty bucks I would buy one but fifty there killing me.
  19. Please show me how Corey has been unwilling to change lately. There's quite a difference between unwilling to and trying to but not having success. Are you saying Corey is simply not talented enough then? BTW, It's not that hard to shorten your swing. Corey's swing remains one of the longest, loopiest swings in the big leagues---just as it was when he entered the league. To be the leadoff hitter that they tried to make him? That's not where his talent lies. And his swing has changed. In trying to shorten it up, they've seemingly made it less level. If his bat could stay in the zone as much as it did a couple of years ago, he'd be having much more success. It doesn't matter where u bat in the lineup a pitch a face high fastball is a face high fastball. Always swinging at the first pitch , sliders in the dirt look the same whether your leading off or batting third. On a side note Cruz has a 8.49 era and Choi is hitting in the .230's all the talk when they where with the Cubs was Dusty is terrible doesn't know this or that. They where can't miss , too much talent to trade. Then when they didn't pan we traded them when there vaule was low. It's funny how each of those two where dealt again. All that talent and still not performing must be Dusty sprinkling magic dust on them to make them struggle. When Patterson is dealt will the same thing happen?
  20. His value is pretty low right now. Corey does need a fresh start with a coaching staff that understands what kind of ballplayer he is. I just hope that will be in Chicago. What kind of ballplayer is he? No matter where u hit him he's still the same a guy that he idea of the strike zone, average at best bunter, very little idea how to use his speed to steal bases.
  21. man I feel for Bartman. Gonzo on the other hand. Would be fun to a couple beers with Steve.
  22. I don't think Hendry would deal for Baez to knock Dempster out of the closer role, Baez would be nice in the eight with Wuertz ,Ohman, Willamson ,Rusch for the eight. I think Remlinger will be dealt. I think we will have to be a closers ransom to get Baez though question is he more effective than other set up man on the market? Would Hendry look to get Huff or Lugo in a package deal from Tampa?
  23. If Boone replaces Macias I wouldn't mind him coming off the bench as a pinch hitter, he's a good defender and still has some pop in his, he's also a smart baserunner with a fiery attitude. He hasn't played third base before but 8 games in the early 90's I wonder if he could be a backup thirdbaseman if Aram needs a rest, Boone has a strong arm. Maybe the Cubs are talking the Mariners about Winn, Ibanez, Everday Eddie and as a throw in might get Boone back in a deal.
