The problem is that there's like 10-12 favorite channels I really watch, but to get all of them in one package, I have to pay like $130 a month. It's just not worth it. I think if cable/satellite is going to survive long term, they'll eventually need to go a la carte.

I ditched MLB:EI for MLB.tv this past season. It's less stable, but it's far cheaper and I can watch it anywhere, which is huge. I also really like some of the features, like having "big play" moments bookmarked so I can skim through games more efficiently. This year, we're finally ditching DirecTV and cutting the cord altogether, and MLB.tv was the deciding factor in that. The only reason I held off was because of baseball.

I definitely like being able to watch all the games. I like being able to watch important games down the stretch, no hitters in progress, or just really good games. If you combine all the bits and pieces of other games I watch over the course of the season, it would probably work out to about one full non-cubs game for every two Cubs games I watch (and I watch a least a good portion of every single Cubs game that's not blacked out. And I'm not going to lie, if a team I really don't like gets blown out or loses a game in heartbreaking fashion, I will fire up their broadcast feed and indulge in a little schadenfreude. If the full package was two or three times more than a team package, I'd go with the latter. But for $30 more spread over the season, I'm taking all of the games.

I'm not. Arrieta, Hammel and Lackey aren't under control forever (and it's unclear whether Hammel will ever be able to maintain performance over a full season). Nabbing a younger, cost controlled starting pitcher is still something I'd like to see happen (especially if it can be done without trading Soler or Baez). Is it a desperate need? No, but quality SP depth is not the strength of the franchise, either.

He said discouraging things about it not long after he took office, but there's a chance that he's since heard enough desire/support for the idea that he now realizes that it is an issue that will have to be addressed. I think there's little chance this doesn't happen fairly soon, if not in the upcoming CBA, but the next. Once interleague play was expanded, the deal was sealed, imo.

It's inevitable at this point, so they might as well stop pussyfooting around and just get it done, especially with a new CBA coming up.
