  1. The value of those pieces slightly goes down because you lose a half year of them. Could be the difference between keeping a prospect you like and giving up one you're not so sure on.
  2. I mean if the Cubs aren't going to make a move by Friday, clearly they agree with me. And it's dumb to not trust what management has done over the past few years. They know what they're doing and they know where the team stands.
  3. How about the 4th best starting pitching in baseball? the 4th worst offense in baseball effectively cancels this out
  4. Yeah, too bad they're not world-beaters like the 2006 Cardinals or anything. They of the 8 and 7-game losing streaks and going 35-39 in the second half and going 83-78 overall and who went 9-11 in their final 20 games. We're not the Cardinals. They have voodoo magic, we haven't won a World Series in 107 years.
  5. Nothing about this team screams "playoffs!". They haven't won an easy game since two Sundays ago in Atlanta when they won by a whopping 3 runs and this is a stretch against all bottomfeeders. If the Cubs are going to make the playoffs, it's going to need to come from within.
  6. One of the main reasons in having a good farm system is to have assets for trades, especially impact moves. Nobody gets anything extra for hording their [expletive] prospects. Not saying you have to keep them all, next trade deadline when the Cubs are hopefully contending, we'll have the pieces to go out and improve the team and fill needs. THEY ARE CONTENDING, FOR THE LOVE OF [expletive]. They're 7-9 in a stretch against their easiest schedule of the season and the Giants look like they're going to roll through the rest of the season. Even if they make the playoffs, they're not getting past Pittsburgh, St. Louis, and LA.

  8. Sooooo...can Pierce Johnson just skip the PCL?

  10. You pay the extra money to keep your farm system in tact. It's a good trade off.
  11. Yu Darvish and Cole Hamels at the top of their rotation next year. Yes please.

  13. Getting 3 runs against Eddie Butler and Aaron Laffey is pretty terrible
  14. Bet Gordon has a connection with Ned Coletti still
  15. i think being a cub has caused maddon to lose what was left of his mind He'll look like 2010 Lou Piniella pretty shortly
  16. 7-8-9 is probably less of a dumpster fire than 6-7-8 normally is.
  17. Starlin out. Stop playing with my emotions
  18. He's been pretty bad since he's been back. Velocity is down. Oh God...Schlitter. More likely Medina. Medina just got sent down, has to wait 10 days
  19. He's been pretty bad since he's been back. Velocity is down.
