this is just silly all great teams don't have all starters of a certain level of quality or whatever the hell you're trying to say with those arbitrary labels At the end of the day Coghlan is a solid MLB player on a team that doesnt have super weak 2b and 3b...

Yet another guy to the DL? I cant imagine they call up another reliever i mean the bench is short as it is.. Are all these injuries going to be the "baseball reason" our studs get called up or at least 1 of the 2 who are ready?

Yeah me either, i mean Arrieta and Hammel did good with Castillo as backstop last year, i dont know why they wont just let him catch for either of them from time to time.

these guys are really really iffy with the bat. i get the "help the pitcher" part of it, but man why cant we get a clone mixing best of montero/ross/castillo?

Agreed Russell is the SS of the future, not mad with Castro at 2b, but if Baez was to come back he would have to push Bryant to the OF, Baez glove is no question. With the way Coghlan (while im not a big fan) has started off this year, Baez will have to make some tremendous improvement on his contact rate and pitch recognition to even think about getting back as a starter. Considering his personal situation its gonna take some really strong motivation to improve enough to be relevant in 2015. Unless of course Castro/and or Coghlan is traded -- but lets be honest while Castro isnt the best, he does come through timely with the bat.

but this is so much less of an issue in Wrigley than it is in spacious LF like Coors/PNC/Petco i'm a little bit excited by the idea of completely reversing course on the defense-first craze of the last 5? years in baseball and putting out a (relative) murderer's row lineup where nobody but Rizzo is a plus fielder Fowler CF Soler RF Rizzo 1B Bryant 3B Coghlan LF Castro SS Montero C P Alcantara 2B also, to your point, he was a completely neutral rating to UZR last year for some reason i'm curious about, but yeah, DRS wasn't so kind I'd rather see Fowler CF Soler RF Rizzo 1B Bryant 3B Coglan LF Castro 2B Montero C P Russell SS

ml pitching is a level higher but a defining moment for me was when at the beginning of spring training in an interview he said his goal was to reduce strike outs.. sounds to me like he sets his mind to it and does it. bodes well for the cubbies

I know its early, but Addison is on FIRE. OFC he is in Bryants shadow. Ugh gonna have to get 2 jerseys this year.. Russell 1.032 OPS, 0 K's.. sweet
