I said this before and got bashed but I will say it again lester gets teh bump. Okay so people don't listen to 670 much but just today Bruce Levine was on there interviewed and was asked about this. He replied "Everything I have heard is if the cubs make the wildcard playoff, Lester will get the start because Arrieta has never pitched more than 157 innings and in the playoffs" .. he also said some really funny comments about how Castro is basically never going to be traded from Chicago because of his 200 hit season in 2011 and the fact is that the guy is way better than his performance.. Bruce Levine is an idiot, but still thats what HE heard. (re: the 1 game playoff) for the record, I want arrieta on the bump for that game! The last time you brought this up you said it was because he makes too much money to not pitch big games. What bruce says makes a little sense. Even if you include the minors hes only pitched at most ~180 innings in a season. He's on pace for like 220+ innings right now. But regardless, whats the difference between him pitching a 1 game playoff and him pitching in the LDS? Ideally, the Cubs can continue to stretch their lead and can allow Jake to get more rest in between starts. I totally agree, once the rosters expand I could see a richard spot start with some guys like edwards eating a couple innings. I did say that but it was only Salary I said Salary and Experience. Look, Im with everyone else I want to see Arrieta pitch that 1 game playoff. Just saying Levine was saying exact same thing about Lester (not salary part but experience part) on the radio today.
