    I like that idea, even to take it a step further, since there is a very low chance that the cubs can pick up a bat, why not consider have KB doing some LF Coghlan doing a little CF (against pitchers he crushed in the past only) and look at the splits and have Castro play vs. pitchers he has a fantastic track record against only. On those Days Baez can slide to 3b.

    And then what? Herrera everyday? shields? no thanks! Herrera for a couple weeks till Baez is ready though if Castro was given a few weeks off to hang with his baby or traded.     You do not give up top tier prospects for the right to pay a pitcher 25-30M a year. I'm not sure there are any top-tier prospects in that proposal. i would absolutely not move baez for a rental. he is top tier maybe technically not considered a "prospect' anymore but for all intents and purposes he is a 22yr old with mega huge upside. nope dont trade baez.

    His first outing looked pretty pretty average, good thing he only costed money.

    For me it was the two-run homer to Bruce. Or Schwarber crushing a line drive right to a fielder with the bases loaded. Or Fowler getting thrown out trying to stretch a single into a double during a big inning. Or one of several other things that happened. Just bad luck and bad breaks tonight. we had our worst starter going tonight, and grimm had a bad inning (which will happen to any reliever, i think he is one of the better pen arms) but that play phillips made saved a run that would have been the tying run. who knows how it woulda played out. but anyways go cubbies sweep the DH today!

    While the bottom of the rotation is an experiment, overall the pitching for the cubs has been one of the best in the game this year.. i can see price making that even better which would be amazing, but i dont know if it will be enough.. they need a LF bat or a CF LH to platoon with fowler, the offense is just mediocre... if they can get cespedes too that would be sweet, but lets be honest what would they have to give up for that? Probably more than Theo/Jed are willing to part with, but who knows maybe they can get the tigers GM drunk and he will agree to a steal deal.
