    Couldn't agree with this more and where I was going when explaining the Torres and Happ (I like that a bunch of people put Jimenez top 3, which if I was a more honest person is where I'd have had him too) rankings on my list. I'm sure we all did the same mental gymnastics in our head for Torres - 18, MIF, and hit some in the lowest full season league, can't really knock that general profile!     i was just looking at this earlier today. prior in 2003, in a much stronger offensive environment: had a better k/9 had a better bb/9 was .1 worse in hr/9 had a better fip than jake arrieta going into tonight's start. TEARS AND TEARS. I would so punch Dusty in the snot box if I ever met him. I feel you every time i think about Prior i get pretty angry. Could you imagine what kind of career he would have put up if he stayed healthy? Could even be in HoF talks. That kid was the real deal... (still have a prior jersey from back then)

Also, Hendricks would be expendable in the right deal. If the cubs actually sign Price AND trade for Ross, Hendricks is out of the picture anyways. Hammel > Hendricks for 5th starter in that scenario all day. Arrieta Price Lester Ross Hammel

    :-k This was an amazing read on what Jay's gone through. Not sure what your emoticon is implying. Agreed I felt bad for the kid for a few minutes as a read it. I think when he gets his shot he is going to tear it up. I hope its with the cubs.

    Saying 'Ross just needs better command' is not terribly dissimilar to saying 'Hendricks just needs to throw 5 mph harder'. Uhh command is something that can be adjusted with tweaks to mechanics kinda like Bosio did with Arrieta, adding 5mph to a fastball at what age 26 ? is darn near physically impossible... the numbers dont lie. Ross is a groundball pitcher who misses a lot of bats.. thats pretty good for Wrigley Field. Ross FiP pretty much sums up his talent level. less than 3 is pretty damn good

    A very minor one that's not really worth punting Castro and 3 years of team control(Hendricks v. Ross) to obtain. I'm under the impression that Castro has negative value I think your assessment of Ross is pretty much way off and Hendricks wouldnt need to go to get Ross in the offseason. Hendricks FiP 3.45 GB% 50.5% HR/9 0.86 K/9 7.79 WHIP 1.22 Ross FiP 2.93 GB% 62.5% HR/9 0.30 K/9 9.49 WHIP 1.38 Ross just needs better command really. But he is a much better pitcher than Hendricks... I dont see how comparing these numbers can be considered minor.

    Sure not the whole universe? He's also given up 1 HR, 3 throughout the minors, 25 hits in 53 innings, and has a ~33% K rate on the year. That's dominance. K-BB is at ~16%, above league averages. Give me edwards over rosscup any day of the week!

    IIRC, they said 375 on the telecast, which would make more sense. The wind was blowing out like what 19 mph? lets be honest. the homer today was great. the energy is amazing with this team. im big on energy, the kind that you cant see but you can feel. but the wind has helped alot lately which was not the case earlier in the season.. if you look at the espn stat again they somehow took wind into account as a factor. it doesn't matter today because the cubs won. that same hit in many parks was a flyout.

    YES. He made some adjustments. the stance is basically the same but his posture is better he isnt dropping his right shoulder.. still, he needs to tweak the angle just a tad to hit more liners. he has had a lot of moonshot barely over the fence homers at home. he doesn't get the same luxury on the road in most cases. still i've said all along he is a great player. but he can be even better, which is scary.

    can't a trainer usually identify a broken bone in the hand right away? Didn't the Cubs keep saying that Olt was day-to-day until they finally discovered he had a broken bone in his hand? They sure did!
