Torres for Miller prooooobably is not outlandish given just how good Miller has been and that he's locked up through 2018, but probably there's other routes. If we are including Torres we might as well get Miller and Chapman. Frame it like the Russell/Shark trade. Torres+Happ+AAAA arm for Miller+Chapman Arrieta Lester Lackey Hammel Hendricks Wood Warren Grimm Strop Miller Rondon Chapman Is that a good pitching staff you guys?
Well, that ship has already sailed. He's not on their level. We very well may have goofed. But there's nothing we can do about that now. He is what he is. That doesn't mean we can't still get something out of him. Yeah, maybe we goofed when we took Almora over Russell. Good thing Theo knows how to Theo.
I'm going to Cubs-Phillies on Monday. A rainout before then would help both our causes! I actually went to a Cubs-Phillies game last year too that Arrieta was slated to pitch and it got rained out. I'm due a make-up. Rainout allowed me to see Jake throw in Pittsburgh last month. Good luck!
I think they think he's a catcher. Not just a catcher but our starting catcher for the next 6 years. You saw what happened to Schwarber in LF this year. Now, his catching future is much more unclear. Why would we risk that with a guy whose only real position the past couple years has been behind the dish? Its just not worth the risk. We can put Kris Bryant, Ben Zobrist, Jorge Soler or Matt Szczur in LF -- not bad options.
I understand that the chances are great that Kershaw would own us but I also would like to be the team to knock him out in the 1st or 2nd inning, even if he would be throwing on short rest. So, bring him on
Does anyone know what our record is in games when our typical top 5 hitters (Fowler, Heyward, Bryant, Rizzo, Zobrist) don't start? Still very good, I am guessing.
But why would we call him up right now to be our 3rd catcher? Montero/Ross are doing fine for now, if not great. Let WC dominate AAA all year if we can then call him up in Sept. Until something changes, we don't need him up here. But we do need to get rid of Fed. I'd rather call Alcantara up and I have no idea if he's even still in the organization.
