  12. I love Schwarber but its not going to be difficult for them to leave him off the roster since, you know, he hasn't played all season and isn't really in baseball shape
  13. Can an insider post what this article actually says? Thanks
  14. No, but of all the teams in MLB, the Cubs can pitch the most appealing offer, I would think. He can hit on the days that he starts and then you have a manager like Joe who has pinch hit his better hitting pitchers ahead of position players left on the bench in come cases, and even played his pitchers in the field. Sign with the Cubs and Joe Maddon and you never know how many ABs you will get, Shohei!
  15. The fact that Martinez hasn't got a manager job by now leads me to believe it probably isn't going to happen. There is clearly something about him that hasn't won teams over in the interview process. His name doesn't even get mentioned for openings any more the same way it did a few years ago. Din't he interview with the Dodgers just last year? He may never become a manager, but to say because he hasn't been one by now is the reason why you don't think he will ever be one is kind of crazy. A WS win tends to make guys more desired. But time will tell, I suppose.
  16. I rolled my eyes shortly after we signed Lester and when I read that Ross would likely be coming with him. I was really turned on to the idea of having a Montero and Wellington Castillo platoon at catcher, and knew that meant we would be giving up some offense just to satiate Lester. Sometimes I think "clubhouse chemistry" is overblown, but in this instance I really wonder where our team would be at right now without Rossy here the past 2 seasons helping keep everyone loose and showing the young guys how to be a great teammate. I've convinced myself that the Cubs are going very, very far this year and then watch Dave Martinez leave for a managerial job, opening a spot up for Rossy. This has to happen, right? Or will he have to go the 'FO Special Assistant' role, first? At this point I'd be so bummed if he ended up taking a job in a different organization or even takes a year off to enjoy retirement. I feel like he could be an important behind the scenes piece to this team's success the next couple years.
  17. They pushed his start back to Monday, and this this happened. OMG. Awful

  20. I have a hunch that if the Cubs play in and win a World Series he may make more money than if they don't but its just a hunch.
  21. We've had quite a few players arrive the past couple years that appear capable of being major leaguers for 10+ years, or at least beyond free agency. We won't be able to keep them all, so who will we extend? When we look back at the end of these guys' careers who do you think we might say was the true "core four" from this era?
