  1. None of those guys are Day 1 starters in their rookie years at T, imo. Mauch had a Day 2 grade with most publications, whereas Harrison and Jones were seen as projects. Wright can anchor RT immediately. He's not a splash pick, but he's climbed the boards following the combine and workouts. It's a good pick.
  2. Is Levis going to fall to the 2nd round? I don't know who would take him out of the remaining teams on Day 1.
  3. I mean, it was a modest 5-7 pick reach, but it wasn't as bad as what the Lions or Jets did. It was a need pick, but they picked the best guy at a position they need to fill.
  4. And. Here. We. Go.
  5. Apparently the Ravens and Lamar Jackson have agreed to an extension. Have to think that will make certain teams a bit more likely to move up for a QB.
  6. We've had some really good quality discussion in the Bears offseason thread, and I didn't split anything off from it, but I figured starting this thread would be a good place to (1) give non-Bears fans a place to discuss the specifics of the draft from their teams' perspectives; and (2) make an obvious thread where we can centralize live reactions/news/etc. involving the NFL Draft, rather than requiring people to comb through other threads for content.
  7. *Reads through list* God, this team is so bad.
  8. Stroud's test scores leaked. Anyone want to take odds on who's trying to get him to drop?
  9. It's being discussed elsewhere, but Rodgers to the Jets appears to be official. The rumored return: So basically a 1st round pick swap with the Jets kicking back a 2nd rounder, 6th rounder, and conditional 2024 pick.
  10. That's where my mind went with those discussions. With Skoronski, Johnson, and Broderick Jones, the question ultimately is where you see them end up playing in 3-5 years. If you don't think any of them will ultimately stick at T, then someone like Wright makes sense if you think he's NFL ready and can man the position long term. However, the question of value is another matter altogether. If Wright can be had at 15 or 20, you're hopefully not reaching to get him at 9.
  11. There was a fair amount of chatter on 670 this morning about the Bears having significant interest in RT Darnell Wright (either at 9 or in a trade down). So the theory goes, Skoronski and Johnson would likely need to move either to RT or the interior, but Wright is already NFL-ready at RT and could slot in immediately, rather than run the risk of joining an already crowded group of potential guards.
  12. I take back my (modest) disappointment at drafting Horton.
  13. We're a week out! Barnwell has some trade ideas. (ESPN) Peter Schrager has his first mock up(NFL.com). Kiper and McShay did a 3 round mock (ESPN Insider) What about Lamar Jackson? (The Athletic)
  14. I can't shake the feeling that there is going to be some sort of weirdness that results in 4 QBs going in the Top 5. Skoronski makes sense and would be a decent pick, but I could see teams making surprising reaches or selections given the number of health/character/experience concerns for the guys who are being mocked in the Top 10. Heck, even the Bears could reach. Maybe I'm overly optimistic, but maybe Skoronski won't be the best guy available for what the Bears are looking for at 9.
  15. ETA: Hi all! I am pinning this thread so we can all post live reactions and thoughts regarding the NFL Draft over the coming days. Please use this thread to discuss mocks, rumors, trades, thoughts, and the fun and creative ways the Jets and Vikings will screw up their picks! The fun begins today, April 27th, at 7 PM and continues through Saturday. With the NFL Draft now two weeks away, I figure now is as good of a time as any to get a thread started for everyone's enjoyment. There's been a ton of discussion in the Bears thread, and some in the NFL thread, but I figured having a thread just for the draft, particularly one we can use for live posting, would be enjoyable for everyone. Here are some of the latest mock drafts: Charlie Davis (NFL.com) Rhett Lewis (NFL.com) Josh Edwards (CBS) Matt Verderame (SI) Finally, PFN's Mock Draft Simulator is available for your craziest trade ideas and those one in a million drafts where Will Anderson somehow falls to 9.
  16. I feel like that's a game this team would have lost 2-0 last April due to defensive miscues and bad bounces. Our offense definitely needs an upgrade if they want to contend come August, but I'll take wins like this one as a positive sign going forward.
  17. I could buy it if they had a first round draft pick in 2023, but, well, yeah. They're also too talented to pull off a successful tank for the 2024 draft. Maybe they can pull something out of a hat in the offseason, but I just feel like they're doomed for NBA purgatory for the foreseeable future.
  18. I just don't see a way forward for this team over the next 2-3 years.
  19. Apparently 4. While the meatball would have deserved it, Rendon was really, really lucky he did not make contact with his swing. Frankly, it shouldn't be a surprise considering Rendon' start to this season.
  20. Frankly, it's just stupid that someone won the awards for best offensive and defensive 1B and someone else who plays the same position in the same division won MVP. Considering the amount of talent on that team, along with Dusty's destruction of the lineup and the rotation, I'm allowed to be bitter about petty crap like that.
  21. When you're sliding into home and your pants fill up with foam...
  22. I'm still salty over the fact that Derrek Lee won both Gold Glove and Silver Slugger for NL 1B, but Albert Pujols won MVP that year.
