    It's kind of obvious if you've gone through this entire thread, but, for the records, all of the Cubs' draftees have signed.

    1 - They finish the season with all of their key skill players healthy. Some positions are deep enough to withstand injuries that are part and parcel of any NFL season, and guys are going to get dinged up and need occasional games off, but injuries are also the easiest way to derail what could be an otherwise successful season. 2 - Record above .500, with the team either in a playoff spot or vying for a playoff spot in the last two weeks of the season. 3 - No QB controversies. I don't want the sort of season where people openly clamor for Tyson Bagent as the starter, and their opinions are taken seriously because Caleb is struggling badly. 4 - Top 15 offense, Top 10 defense. Reasonable things!

    I have this bizarre feeling that the team is about to go on a run, to the point where most of us get excited at the possibility of the Cubs making the 3rd WC spot, only for them to fall short by a game or two.

    The White Sox should throw in a first aid kit. Yeesh.

    Additionally, the Cubs' prospect list gets really murky after around 10 or so. It's not a bad thing, but the farm consists of a lot of lottery tickets, injury guys going through rehab, bad luck types who are bounceback candidates, and low ceiling/high floor types. It really comes down to what your preferences are.

    I believe Nomar was the last big one that was announced right after the deadline passed.

    It'll all make sense when it comes out that Tony LaRussa has been a secret agent for the Cardinals during his stint in the White Sox organization.

    I have to wonder about the (perceived) lack of interest in Robert. Is it their asking price? Injury concerns? Something else? Also, I'd be all in favor of the Cubs trading for Crochet. He sure as hell won't have to worry about pitching in the playoffs this season.

    This trade makes one thing obvious: Tony LaRussa still runs the White Sox.

    Mostly for trade market purposes; I think the Cubs might have better luck moving him in the offseason if teams like the Giants and Tigers were looking to add a veteran to their rotation when they're retooling for 2025. It doesn't seem like there are many buyers at the moment, even though more teams are competing for a playoff spot.

    I can see the argument for keeping him through the end of the season. The SP depth on this team isn't particularly great at the moment due to injuries. It's not like anyone is banging down the door at AA/AAA right now, so trading him basically results in an automatic bullpen day in his slot. From the murmurings we've heard around him, it doesn't sound like the proposed returns have been particularly great. That being said, I can see the Cubs trading him in the offseason, especially if Horton and Wicks return from injury in August/September and pitch to expected form.

    My thought process when reading this: "Where are the White Sox on this lis...HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!" *sigh*

    That was fun. Even after removing Brown, PCA, and Canario, my Top 10 was relatively easy, and you could make a strong case for 1-8 all being Top 100 prospects.

    I'd find it oddly fitting if Jed got the axe after the 2025 season, followed by Cam Smith winning NLROY in 2026.

    I'm curious as to whether the Cubs are looking at their AAA/AAAA guys as possible trade sweeteners in possible deals out there. Maybe Taillon on his own won't bring back more than a handful of scratch-off tickets, but Taillon + Canario could possibly net a 45+ FV prospect from a team looking for a SP and a power bat off the bench. Considering their current roster construction, it'd make sense to explore all options, plus the acquiring team would get a young player under team control in return along with the bigger piece.

    Ugggggggggggggh. I get that Wicks will be eligible to return this season, but I was hoping for good news for him coming out of the All Star Break.

    There's nothing historic or otherwise noteworthy about these buildings. Moreover, places across the globe have zero issue with knocking over buildings that are hundreds, if not thousands, of years old. Blow 'em up.
