  1. 4th OF on a good team. He doesn't play CF well enough to play there every day and it seems like he'll be relegated to a corner in the majors. Moreover, because he doesn't exhibit very good patience or power at the plate, he likely won't hit enough to be better than average as a corner OF. Still, the hot streak has been very nice.
  2. Heck no! I'd keep working just to see if I ever could top that amount. :D

  4. Chattanooga also lost, so it's still just a two way tie. Meanwhile, Boise's in extra innings with a 4-4 tie out in Tri-City.
  5. Nelson Figueroa. Randy Johnson, who has owned the Cubs better than any other pitcher has owned any other team in recent history.
  6. 74 to 54 starts is a substantial enough margin that having Koyie Hill catch another 20 games should help close that number between the two of them.
  7. That almost guarantees they'll go out after a QB. I saw Tyler Thigpen brought up somewhere, that seems like a really good idea to backup Brady. Cassel's out for the next few weeks, so the Chiefs might hang onto him as an insurance policy.
  8. I might agree with that if the difference wasn't nearly a whole R/G after 120 games. Perhaps there's something more at work here, like the confidence level of the pitchers ?? The words "small sample size" come to mind.
  9. Levine says no trades are going to happen for either of them. Link
  10. Inevitably, that did get mentioned in the Tribune article link that was posted. It's also been mentioned in this thread..... but what the hell....... CUBS are 32-42 when Soto starts..... 33-21 when K Hill starts CUBS pitchers' ERA in games that Soto starts 4.24..... in games that K Hill starts 3.38 CUBS' Runs scored per game when Soto starts 3.93.... when K Hill starts 5.15 Opponents runs scored per game when Soto starts 4.49.... when K Hill starts 4.00 CUBS run differential when Soto starts -43.... when K Hill starts +62 What's the overlap for when Soto and Ramirez were out at the same time?
  11. And washing your car. And putting on cowboy boots. And ironing shirts you are currently wearing. And removing shrink wrap from DVDs. And lifting pillows. And carrying a deer carcass up a flight of stairs. And being run over by automatic tarp machines.
  12. Because he's the best arm Paul Mainieri has ever coached?
  13. I still am holding out hope. A win today would have been awesome. A win today and another win vs. the Nationals would have been even better. Of course, a win today, another win vs. the Nationals and another win vs. the Padres would have been glorious... UGH! This team has been frustrating. Just get hot, stick somebody else in the rotation for Z and hope the breaks fall your way. A good month and 3-of-4 from SF could do it. SF is also in the race for this thing and tied for the WC lead. Unlike the Rockies, their pitching is downright terrifying and they're getting hot at the right time. We need them to falter, too.

  15. Shooter Hunt Even as a throw-in, I'd have second thoughts.
  16. Great to hear. Just in time for their big playoff push, to boot.
  17. I like Hicks better than Revere, although I think Revere has the potential to be a cheap and effective leadoff option in CF two or three years down the road. I wouldn't do Harden for Revere straight up, but I wouldn't mind seeing Revere as part of a package for Harden.
  18. Updates from ongoing games: Iowa is up 1-0 in the 8th. Mitch Atkins went 6 and struck out 8. Peoria is putting a 10-2 beat down on Cedar Rapids in the 3rd. Everyone but Kyler Burke has at least one hit, and Burke has a walk.
  19. It's not like Harden's under contract for next year...or has pitched more than 150 innings since 2004. I'm of the opinion that letting Harden go would be a mistake. He's a legit ace. I disagree. In addition to having great stuff, a true ace has to be a reliable innings-eater. Harden has the stuff, but his injury history makes him far from reliable. Agreed on this point. I like Harden. When he's healthy and pitching to his potential, he's one of the best pitchers in baseball. The problem is, he just can't stay healthy for extended stretches. I'd love to have him back next year, but I would never offer him more than 2 years.

  21. I think Jake Fox just did the minute waltz.
  22. He had no chance of catching it save for a miraculous diving catch, especially with the wind blowing in.
