You're acting like he freaking crawled on his hands and knees to first base. No, he wasnt busting his hump but he wasnt walking either. He was jogging at the same pace that most other players jog at when they hit what looks like a probable out. Could he have run harder? Yes. But there's also a good chance he would have been thrown out at second - that ball wasn't hit all that deep.

Bob being Bob. I don't have any problem with it. Soriano has no idea how to hustle and should be called out for it. The problem I have with it is he was the only guy to come through in the inning. Ramirez looked like a rookie in his first big league at bat and Soto couldn't make contact either. While Soriano might not have hustled, he did drive in a run which is more than we can say for anyone else in the line-up tonight. What would they have said if he would have been thrown out trying to get to second? Yeah, I tend to agree with this.

What did he say? I'm stuck watching the Rockies feed. Bob has always hated, Soriano, imo. Len said that Soriano might have been able to end up at second if he ran a little harder on that looping line drive and bob said in a snarky voice "Are you surprised?"

It's usually a pretty good indicator of it though. Barring a ton of injuries. Here's the top 3 payrolls from last year and where they finished in their division. Yankees - 3rd place Tigers - LAST PLACE Mets - 2nd place And the Yankees and Tigers had a ton of injuries. Regardless, the point is money is not always a great indicator of how well you'll do. In recent times, yes, the cubs have had a very high payroll. But they've won back to back division titles - last year winning 97 freaking games. So what's your problem? Hendry has been given a ton of money and had lots of recent success. Could he have spent it better? Always. But this bottom-5 crap is ridiculous.

There are lots of bad GMs out there. Baseball GMs, when compared to the heads of other billion dollar operations, are laughably bad. The old boys club has kept it that way. Exactly. I really think people over-exaggerate how bad hendry is in comparison to other baseball GM's. Certainly hendry makes some mind-numbingly bad decisions but he is not a bottom-5 in this league.

I like how you say that like it's crazy. I like how you've never ever been wrong once. Ever. Oh come on. Hendry is NOT a "bottom-5 GM" No one is talking about a 'few good trades' absolving him from anything. He has built a team that won back to back division championships and going into this season - on paper - the cubs were still one of the best teams in baseball. Yes, he makes mistakes (Say, Aaron Miles) but bottom 5? Please. He also was in a division the last two years where he spent a lot more money than anyone else. Yeah, and he won. So he did what he was supposed to do.

His breaking ball just hasnt broke so he's probably safer staying with the FB.
