  1. Yuck yuck yuck. This is an age-old question for cubs fans. And it sucks, because it looks like, it has a chance of coming true this year. I dont think i could make it through that world series.
  2. I don't recall Barrett, Burnitz, or Walker "carrying a team" for any stretch this year. That's a ridiculous way to determine anything, completely based on each individual's recollection of events Barrett and Burnitz never really hurt the team either. Burnitz has never really slumped and produced all year long. Barrett despite not having a great year was terriffic defensively at the beginning, throwing out a bunch of attempted basestealers, as I pointed out before. He'd probably have kept it up if not for an ailing shoulder. Neither has been a player that is hurting the lineup. So you can call it ridiculous, but the point that you can't debate is that despite maybe three good defensive plays and two meaningful home runs, he's been awful consistently. I'll let Fred dredge up the stats for you if he feels like it, but suffice to say that Barrett and Burnitz, just like every player not named Pujols or Bonds, have gone through a streak where they've been cold and have hurt the team. That's not the point. The point is that we can actually recall on one hand the times that Corey Patterson helped this team in 2005. Don't you see how ridiculous that is? Oh, thats the point now? Seems to me your "point" keeps changing.
  3. Haha. Nice Avatar. Anyways. Position: Sosa, 2001. Durrrr. Bench: Ron Santo, 1969. Pitcher: Rick Sutcliff, 1984.
  4. No, really?
  5. Wow, NSBB is really getting noticed! Anyways, Jeff, This is more of a silly question. Where did Ron get his Cubbie-prosthesis? I thought those were very cool.
  6. Congrats, you swept the fish. Too bad you couldnt do that in 03, losers.
  7. Eh, I don't blame him for wanting to show that he's sorry. Although he looks and talks like a jerk so that doesn't help :werd: He is saying "I dont have anything against anybody" It looks like he is thinking "#### you ##### ###### I hope you die, ####### #######"
  8. I just got steady internet back just now, so I was waiting until then to continue. Since I only received 4 entries(I'll have to double check to be sure), all those who submitted an entry advance. Stay tuned for the posting of these entries and the final scenario, where first prize wins a signed Sean Gallagher baseball! Sweeeeet.
  9. ARAMIS IS BEING NICE TO, AND LAUGHING WITH PUJOLS. FRATENIZING WITH THE ENEMY! anywho. How fitting is it that mr camera beater is the one to get hit.
  10. AWWWWWW!!! That is such a CUTE child! Seconded. I saw part of one of the hundred and fifty replays of the derby, and I caught a close up of aram and baby aram. Baby aram and big aram were clapping together. How cute :fluffy: nice to see him hanging out with his good friend Moises Hopefullly he didnt let him hold his baby.....
  11. :-k :chin: *ahem* KARRY WUUD IS a BaD PIchER BeCuz He IzBAD inCluTCH Sittuattins!. ZaMbRano 2!!!!!111 Seriously...What "big games" has he been in? He was in like three playoff games. Whoopdy doo. yeah, but in those 3 playoffs games he wasn't very good. Nevermind the fact that he was only 22 at the time and in his first full year as a Major League starter... Dont forget how bad Kerry sucks. (minus the NLDS)
  12. Work? Work? What's up with that? Its a trap. A horrible trap. They give you a little money, take most of it away in taxes, and then suck the life out of you.
  13. I'm sorry but I tried to do my best to support the fact that he's not a power hitter. He's a tiny player who puts everything he can into a ball and every once in a while it goes 425 feet. 80% of the time he's barely clearing the fence or hitting it to the track. Todd Walker hit one 425 the other day - is he a power hitter? If he did anything but try to hit it as far as he could every time he batted he'd be a better hitter and probably even hit more home runs. I never said he was a "power hitter" I simply said he is not a guy with "warning track power." Do you beleive there is no inbetween ground, no grey area? He is either a prolific slugger or the second cousin of Jose Macias? You can probably divide hitters, as far as HR's go, into four categories, IMO. 1. No power (warning track power). They hit less than 10 HR's a year. 2. Some power. They hit from 10-25 Homers per year. 3. Very good Power. They hit 25-35 Homers per year. 4. All power. They Crush the ball. 40 Homers is a pile of donkey poo that they step in, if they dont watch where they are walking. Right now, corey is in category two. One day, he could probably make category three. But, to say he has warning track power is not true by any sense of the word.
  14. Dont you, though?

  16. Look at how many just barely made it over the fence... And how many were solo??? 1st of all, your dead ball comment is wrong. In 1910 Frank Schulte of Chicago lead the league with TEN homers. Corey surpasses those with ease. And, WHAT DOES IT MATTER IF THEY ARE SOLO. Sweet mary and Joseph. How is it his fault that no one is on when he goes deep. Jesus. Also, not many of them "just made it over the fence". I can count four (numbers 1,2,7,11). And besides, what does it Matter if they just go over the fence. They went over, did they not?
  17. That is absurd. Are you really telling me that HR's arent as good if they dont go as far? Are you really saying he has only warning track power? If so, you need to go check out some stats. In the last four years (02/03/04/05) Corey has hit 14, 13, 24, and 11 HRs respectivley. Obviously, the 05 number is dwarfed by the fact that its only the midway point. That is not warning track power. Your argument simply doesnt hold any water. Majestic hr's dont mean squat. All you have to do is get them over the wall. Those weren't power numbers in dead ball era. /holding water. Did i say they were "power numbers" I'm saying your argument, that corey has warning track power because he never hits any majestic blasts, is absoloutley absurd. And i'm saying, plain and simple, corey does not have warning track power. Warning track power is Macias, Ojeda (AUGIE!!!), Hairston, and guys with like 4 or 5 homers a year. Not 11-24.
  18. Ok, last post in a row, i promise... But, by comparison, lets look at Bobby Abreu. I think (especially after last nights display) that you'd agree, he doesnt have warning track power. 1) 380 ft. to RC 2) 432 ft. to RC 3) 390 ft. to RC 4) 385 ft. to RC 5) 420 ft. to RC 6) 402 ft. to C 7) 415 ft. to RC 8) 345 ft. to R 9) 375 ft. to LC 10) 380 ft. to LC 11) 375 ft. to RC 12) 397 ft. to RC 13) 360 ft. to R 14) 390 ft. to RC 15) 360 ft. to L 16) 420 ft. to C 17) 395 ft. to RC 18) 420 ft. to R Now, again, bolded are "majestic" blasts. (notice, i'm using 420 as a min for majestic). Abreu has 7 more HRs then corey, but only 2 more "majestic" blasts. And only ONE of his went farter than one of coreys. So does that mean Abreu has "warning track power" ?
  19. Oh, and, a quick stop at SI.com gave me a listing of the distances of all his HR's this year. 1) 360 ft. to R 2) 360 ft. to R 3) 420 ft. to RC 4) 390 ft. to R 5) 395 ft. to RC 6) 385 ft. to R 7) 365 ft. to R 8) 389 ft. to R 9) 400 ft. to R 10) 425 ft. to R 11) 354 ft. to R How, Highlighted are the ones that are "majestic" Yes, he hits them. And out of those, the only one that is particularly short is number 11. If anything, that shows that he is an extreme pull hitter when it comes to power...
  20. That is absurd. Are you really telling me that HR's arent as good if they dont go as far? Are you really saying he has only warning track power? If so, you need to go check out some stats. 21. Stupid having to work friday.
  22. I loved Sammy, but he was really just a mistake hitter. He didnt go out and hit good pitches like Vlad Guerrero, so hes going to struggle when the best pitchers in the world come to town. That being said, there was time that if you made a slight mistake against Sammy, he would hammer it better than anyone in the game. Huh? That guy swings at some absoloute CRAP. He'll swing at anything. Of course, he hits it, but the fact is he still swings at crap.
  23. Now thats a sexy shirt.
