  1. SAMMYYYY :cheer: :cloud9:
  2. LOL-it did update right after I posted. Yup-Hill with a 3 run HR, and Theriot has added another hit and Murton a walk before Kinkade ended the 2nd-they are absolutely killing McCarthy. SOSA IS BATTING THIS INNING
  3. Hill with a 3 run bomb in the texas game!
  4. Murton just hit a 2 run homer to put the cubs up 2-0 in the surprise game.
  5. Prior is still starting tomorrow right? Prior will pitch his 3 innings after Lilly Sweet. Thanks
  6. Prior is still starting tomorrow right?
  7. Anyone willing to do some pbp? I'm at work and can't get radio/tv. Thanks!
  8. I'm assuming Z... ..maybe?
  9. barrett is one crazy mofo.
  10. And there in lies the problem. Ichiro isn't young anymore and his numbers have already started to trail off. He hasn't broken an .800 OPS in 2 years. I understand the "win now" attitude, but your "pitchers fearing him" argument is bogus. I dont care if they fear him or not, it hasn't helped him get any more walks (i.e. pitchers being afraid of him and pitching around him). And if it has...congratulations, he still barely gets on base more than Murton. All this "fear" he strikes into pitchers hasn't helped him produce any better than Murton, so why does it even matter? If your thesis is that people are going to give Soriano better pitches because he is batting in front of Ichiro...I seriously doubt that is the case. Furthermore, aside from the "fear" argument. Given two players, one who gets on base at a .750 clip and is on the upswing (pre-prime) of his career, is dirt cheap, and has the potential for some power; and one who will get on at a .750 clip and is past the prime of his career, has little to no power, and is really expensive who would you chose?
  11. The mariners announcers said prior topped out at 85. Everyone here freaked out like the sky was falling. Turns out he was consistently throwing around 85, but topped out at 89. People still think the sky is falling, but not as fast.
  12. Murton is no longer a prospect! This will be his third year in the big leagues (second full). He has shown he can produce at the major league level (and, actually, get on base at nearly the same rate as ichiro). It's not us overvaluing our prospects that makes this deal bad. This deal would be bad if we were only trading jones and murton. EDIT: also, that quote in your sig is absolutely hysterical!
  13. First of all, how does the fact that our organization will most likely (wrongly) use Murton as a platoon player have anything to do with this argument? Furthermore, how does Ichiro provide "actual protection" while Murton obviously (by your logic) does not? They get on base at nearly the exact same rate! And yes, Ichiro has a better defensive game than murton, but is that worth giving up Jones, Gallager, and Marshall for?
  14. So your overrated if youve never batted lower than .300 in the majors and never had OBP lower than .350 ? and also one of the best outfielders in the game. No, you're overrated when people make you out to be some amazing baseball god, when in reality you have numbers comparable to that of a player entering his 3rd year in the big leagues that most people consider to be "good". EDIT: Man, I suck at catching mistakes...
  15. I dont think I can say no fast enough. really, wow, i understand the love of Murton's potential but you get a chance at a player of Ichiro's caliber you have to take it- i think you might be overvalueing Murtons Potential as well as Marshall and Gallagher- they are young unproven commodities- I think i couldnt say yes fast enough( if Ichiro wanted to sign an extension) As TT said, he is one of the most overrated players in the game. I'm not denying he's good, because he is, but he's certainly not worth that package. First of all, even though this will only be his 7th season in the big leagues, he'll be 34 at the end of this season. Furthermore, his numbers (once you look past his batting average, a non-so-important stat in itself) aren't anything truly special. Here are his career (in the MLB) numbers (obp/slg/ops) 376/.438/.814 And actually, he hasnt broken an .800 ops since 2004. By comparison, Matt Murton's career numbers are: .370/.462/.832
  16. I dont think I can say no fast enough.
  17. Sorry, I forgot to mention that the pic is a headshot. The shirt has a high neck collar making the logo very prominent on the cover. He was talkin' bout Pie in that picture posted on the last page.
  18. HAHAHAHHAHAHAHA
  19. I'm not a huge fan of your infield, but your pitching staff and, most likely, outfield will kick some serious tail.
  20. I saw Carl Crawford go first overall last year. Now, I know he's good and all. But over Pujols? Rodriguez? Santana? no way.
  21. Yes, because those didnt get old two years ago. LOL PRIOR THROWS TOWELLS. LOL THE CUBS LEAD BASEBALL IN SIMULATED GAMES WON HAHAHLOLOL
  22. Between the towel reference, Dusty Baker Pick, and ridiculous quote, I'm guessing you are looking to cause trouble Careful, dont venture too far out on that limb.
  23. Can we say Overreaction? Sullivan just reported he topped out at 89, not 83-84. Which I actually believe because, from what I read in the game thread today, the Mariners announcers (who were the ones that said he threw only in the mid 80's) sucked hardcore. Furthermore, It's the first actual game he's pitched in since like July, plus that whole thing about it being the FIRST WEEK OF MARCH. I know that Prior hasn't had the cleanest health record up to this point in his career, but being 4-5 MPH short on his fastball in his first game in ages shouldn't send us into a mad panic. :willynilly:
  24. hahahahahahahaha a towel joke!
