  1. Depends, how do you feel about Jail?
  2. I thought it was gone. Oh, okay. Well i'm only listening so I guess I really shouldn't jump to conclusions.
  3. Damnit Pat got way too excited for that.
  4. Breaking news: Estes is not good at baseball. Khalil X gets us there.
  5. Hahahahahhahahahahahaahahhahahaahahahah Went oppo!
  6. Ron thinks San Diego's uni's are ugly.
  7. your signature just lied to me. Jim Edmonds is teh gay baseballer! Did that make up for it? At least you're not bitter. I just wonder if people are going to be saying the same things they have said for years if Edmonds plays well for the Cubs. The chances that edmonds will play well are just about equal to the chances that Cubs fans will stop hating him and his "dive at anything in my vicinity" ways. I think you forgot to add "gay." I think you already made that comment. Like four times.

  10. Well i got out of class early and I suppose I could go and buy myself a ticket for the game - and actually get to WATCH a game for once this year as this will be the last home game (save my best friends graduation) that I will miss all year...Hmm. But there's a high chance of rain in the forecast - I think I'll stay put.
  11. Their pitching is awful. So is their hitting. And their fielding. They have the best lineup in baseball That's the funniest thing I've heard all day. The rest of their lineup outside of those guys is complete crap. Yeah, but those four guys consist of half their lineup. So you're saying that those 4 + crap is better than Ellsbury Pedroia Ortiz Ramirez Youkalis Lowell Drew Lugo Varitek Or however they line them up? Hell, even: Soriano Theriot Lee Ramirez Fukudome Soto DeRosa Pie/Johnson
  12. Pfft. They're white and they make diving catches. What more can you ask for!?
  13. He looks like Michele Wie. :-k I heard he pitches a lot like Chan Ho Park and has a batting stance similar to Ichiro. Which Chan Ho Park? Good version or really really really bad version? Well, actually, upon further review - neither. He is actually more like random asian A.
  14. I wouldn't shed any tears. Although what do you do with him? I guess he'd first be demoted to the bullpen. If he stinks there, I don't know if the Cubs would be willing to send him to the minors with that contract. I don't know if they'd eat it by DFA'ing him, so I guess the most logical choice would be to trade him for whatever you can get. It would be either garbage for garbage, or we'd have to ship off some good young talent along with him if we wanted his salary completely off the books. Is it even possible to send him to the minors? Does he have any options?
  15. That's not the point he's getting at at all, really. It's just the fact that Soriano has been terribly unlucky when it comes to balls in play actually dropping in for hits - thus causing the pathetic numbers early.
  16. I'd like to know how many 9th place batters in the AL are OPSing higher than Big Z alone...
  17. Yeah, but I think we'll rise up in the K totals as the year goes on. Z is only averaging about 4 K's a game this year, where-as last year he averaged over 5 and the year prior more than 6. Some of this may be a change in his style of pitching but I'd be willing to bet it just has more to do with it being early in the year. Howry has a career avg of just less than 1 K per inning (.858) - this year it's at .72. Granted that isn't a huge change - but as Howry begins not to suck and come out of his slump he's going to strike out more batters. Kerry Wood has a career avg. of 1.14 K's per inning - this year he is at .89 - again, not a huge difference and a reliever isn't going to pile up a ton of strikeouts anyway; but when combined with Howry and Z it begins to tell the story of why we're so low on the list. And for the record Marmol is also slightly behind the K numbers he put up last year. In 07 Marmol struck out about 1.4 batters per inning, this year he sits at 1.33. My point is this - the guys that usually K a ton for us are not quite up to their career avg's. It's entirely possible that this has something to do with some kind of change in philosophy; but I'd be willing to bet that as the year goes on we'll rise up in those standings as some of our pitchers get closer to their career norms.
