To my Cardinal friends, an honest question not intended to start trouble. When should I expect to hear Cardinal fans griping about Walker's "injuries" and not being able to play through pain? J.D. Drew was criticized plenty in the years he spent here for his "nagging" injuries. Is Walker getting a free pass? I heard he's supposed to undergo an MRI on his neck. I give one of my co-workers credit, he's been adamant since last year that they shouldn't have signed Walker and he even called him a baby. I thought that was funny.

Yeah, but it seems like he's pitching well in general. If you have a below .500 record with an ERA under 3.00, then your team isn't scoring runs for you. Let's get 'em again tonight.

I will continue to say it: The Brewers put out maximum effort against the Cubs. I know I'm not paranoid, but if the Cardinals had played the Brewers last night, the Cards win it 9-2 or 5-1 or 7-2. In other words, it wouldn't have been a nail biter. I can't believe Carlos Lee went hitless against us last night. I think he wasn't used to seeing the Cubs in their gray jerseys. Once back in their blue or pinstripe jerseys, he'll go 3-4 or 4-4. Then when the Cubs leave he'll have his patent 1-11 series. I really don't like the Brewers.

The Brewers haven't played well over the last month. I'm curious if they do their usual 1982 Brewers kind of hitting against us then go back to being the bad Brewers once we leave.

If there has to be a big discussion about it, then a player shouldn't get in. I still say the HOF should be only for the greatest of the greats in the game and not for the very good or very, very good. But the way the HOF is now, I would think Biggio would have an easier time getting in than Bagwell.

Haha... actually his prediction has been pretty good to this point; Carpenter has pitched very well for most of the year... 9-4 with a 3.17 ERA. We'll see if he can keep it going at the end of this season, because he kind of crapped out toward the end of last year. He's on pace to throw 240 innings this year, which are a whole lot for a guy with a history of arm trouble. Question. If a pitcher (say Maddux) pitches 250 innings, but never goes over 100 pitches in a start, is that still overworking a pitcher? I know that innings and pitchcounts have become an important way of charting a pitchers use. Which is more important? I'm still under the belief that it's not just the number of pitches thrown but other factors as well. Things like development of the arm, mechanics, types of pitches thrown and how many pitches are thrown using maximum effort. For example, Livan Hernandez seems to always throw a bunch of pitches year in and year out but doesn't have frequent arm problems. 130 pitches from him are different than Zambrano's 130 because Hernandez throws a bunch of off-speed stuff. Unlike Zambrano, who out of 130 has to use maximum effort on 95-100 of those pitches, Hernandez only uses maximum effort on probably 55-60. -
I don't know what constitutes being on the bandwagon, but I think Dubois will do okay against Willis tonight. As long as he continues to try to go the other way.

And he got pulled after 2 at bats. Sheesh..... He got pulled thanks to Glendon Rusch not being able to get the third out in the inning. Thanks to Glendon, he was pulled with his spot in the order up first. Or maybe you wanted to bring in Borowski for just one hitter? I don't see why it was so imperative to get Borowski into those 2 innings. We were down 5-0, and it not like the roster is short on relievers. Wellemeyer could have pitched, then Borowski the next inning, which is what I would rather see anyway, because Borowski is accustomed to entering games at the top of an inning. Who was brought into the game was irrelevant. I'm beginning to think you didn't see the game and just venting needlessly. Anyway, had Rusch gotten out of the inning, his spot was due up in the bottom half of the inning. A pinch-hitter would've been brought in, thus saving Dubois from having to be pulled for the double-switch. Barrett batted eighth, but you're not going to pull him, so Dubois had to be double-switched. Who was brought in to pitch was irrelevant to the double-switch.

Your paranoia with Dubois is cracking me up. First, if you want to blame someone for his lack of starts, blame Patterson and Burnitz. You can't have three guys in the lineup who aren't hitting. If Dubois was the only one in the lineup struggling then at least you could "hide" him. Right now, Holla has had the hot bat so he's playing. Yes, it sucks that Dubois wasn't given five weeks to prove himself like Holla was, but that doesn't mean Hendry is ready to trade him. Of course, if we got a stud in return then I'd have no problem, but anything less than that I won't like. Remember, we'll likely have to get a leftfielder and rightfielder next year. By keeping Dubois, we should only need to go after a rightfielder in '06.

I agree and I'll say it again: If the Reds trade Dunn, they'll be lucky to draw 1.2 million this year. He is really their only draw. I think he is the franchise.

The Cubs have a total of only 122 walks this year. Adam Dunn has 37 walks all by himself, meaning if he played for the Cubs he'd have over 30% of the walks for the team. Note to Hendry: please get Dunn. I hope we don't get Dunn. He's just another hacker and that is something we don't need. His walks don't come from having a good eye, it comes from pitchers pitching around him. One thing you won't hear announcers say is, "Dunn with a good eye takes ball four." He'll strike out a ton and hit a bunch of solo shots. We're already doing that without him.

I will continue to "out" the Milwaukee Brewers until they show me that they are capable of playing good baseball against any other team than the Cubs. Coming to play for only 18 of the 162 games on the schedule threatens the integrity of the game. I hate the Brewers, again not as much as I hate the Cardinals but it's getting almost close.

I don't mind the 134 pitches thrown today by Z, but I feel he should get five days rest before his next start instead of four. Otherwise, I would expect a rather short outing by Z next start. Won't he still get 5 days? Monday: Leicester Tuesday: Maddux Wednesday: Prior Thursday: Off-day Friday: Rusch Saturday: Zambrano Oops. I forgot about the off-day on Thursday. Thank you.

What is with your labels and generalizations? I don't know too many people on here that have bought a Neifi Perez jersey. So wjhat is a pro-Neifi fan? At best from what I've read is that people are giving him his props because he has hit much better (minus the 17 at-bats before his homer today, which I doubt you'll give him props for) than any of us had hoped. I hate that Perez has to play, just as I hate that Hollandsworth starts, but I'm not rooting against them. Several of your posts suggests this regarding Perez. I have fully expected Perez to come down to earth, but what if this is his career year (I doubt it, but would love for it to happen) As far as I'm concerned, I think people who have read my posts know which players I can't stand. I just have no need to spew my hatred for them on a daily basis as, unfortunately, some other posters do for players or coaches. Again, just who is this pro-Neifi crowd you speak of?

I freakin' hate the Brewers. I'm beginning to think they are messing with the integrity of the game of baseball. I've said it before and I'll say it again -- that team only plays about 18 games a year and it's only against the Cubs. I've said they lose 7 of their next 10 and they're already off to a good start with a 2 game losing streak. I hate that team... but not as much as I hate the Cardinals.

I wouldn't blame that on Carlos (lee). I'd blame it on Carlos (Z). If everybody else pitches Lee well why can't the Cubs? I'm somewhat joking. But count Austin Kearnes in the mix, too. I don't know why Carlos Lee and Kearnes can hit us pretty well, but other staffs seem to have little trouble keeping them off base.

Well, Carlos Lee realizes the Cubs are in town and he comes up with two hits. He looked clueless against just about everybody else this year, but the cure for his ills comes to town. I really don't like guys like him.

Well I wonder if Carlos Lee will come out of his slump since he's playing against the Cubs tonight. He's been brutal against everyone else this year. He probably will have an MVP type series against the Cubs. I hate players that suck against everyone else but are All-Stars when they play the Cubs.

I won't turn this into an "other game thread", but the Cards already lead the Brewers 1-0. Grudz hit a lead-off homer. See? The onslaught will likely begin, because the Brewers aren't playing the Cubs. I hate the Brewers.

I see the Cards are trotting out Tguchi and Nunez today, with Grudz leading off. That means the Cards will score 6 or 7 runs today.

I hate the Brewers. Why is it that they leave guys in scoring position all day against the Cardinals, but drive them in against us? I'm starting to think that team only plays 18 games a year --- the games against the Cubs. They've lost 10 of 11 to the Cardinals, and Carlos Lee looks like Carlos Santana at the plate against the Cardinals, but we can't get the guy out. I don't get it. Also, Izzy seemed to have hurt himself in the ninth.

Just curious, why didn't his name come up anywhere in the off-season? I'm just glad I haven't heard Art Howe's name. I think Dierker is a good manager, as I do Baker. But after a 7-7 start, there would be people calling Dierker an "idiot", "moron", too. :roll:
