  1. I would totally party all night. If im at home id be watching the celebration in the street on wgn and watching all the replays of the game on espn news all night till the sun comes up the next day. Until i watch that sun comes up i wont be allowed to rest. No way am i going to work the next day. No way. I'll probaby make few drunk posts on nssb too.
  2. Maddux just plain sucks. After just seeing the score on yahoo and the 5ER next to maddux makes the rest of my work day suck even more.
  3. No, but its worthless to get on. Dusty makes it park in the McDonald's across the street and insists everyone on board keep quiet until the game is over. Thats great. Im on but this bandwgn is going to be one slow smooth ride without much action. The Dubois bandwgn was like a 4X4 off road trip. We were all yelling for the driver to speed up and let it rip. When the thing got going it had its period of haulin ass which was fun. Then it hit the part with all those rocks and holes and turned into one bumpy ride. The driver pulled over because it was starting to fall apart and people jumped off because it got to scary. The cedeno bandwgn is like a classic car then never gets out of the garage. When it gets out its just going to hit the boulevard and turn back around get parked for a week. Nothing too exciting, slow and steady. We can only hope when this thing gets taken out the garage all the girls notice so we can do it again.
  4. Im optimistic the Cubs will resign Nomar and it will be cheap. $5M + incentives. The only big money teams competing for him is the Cubs and Braves. All the big money teams have their shortstops tied up for at least 2-3 years. If he wants more money he will have to go to a small market team. I think the yanks will overpay for burnett, they need young pitching and are getting out from underneath kevin brown. Giles could be a good possibilty for the Cubs to sign him. Heck they might have him or burnitz in left field next year. Dubois looks like a platoon corner OF. Rusch will be back if its less than 4.5M, although someone could give him a multi year deal. Macias will most definetly be gone.
  5. Don't forget the Pirates got Roberto Clemente thanks to Rule V! Ahhh, i didnt know that, but i already knew the Cubs arent as dumb as the pirates. 8) Actually, the Dodgers let him go. My bad on not typing the team that let him go in the last post. Nah, what was i thinking he played as a pirate duh. The dodgers, hmmmm. Anyway, if santana's success in his first mlb year is any indication of how much a cellar dweller team might with stick with a talented player, it doesnt bode well for the Cubs. Santana was awful.

  7. The one thing that keeps me a little sane about this thread is johan santana. The astros let him go in the rule v draft. The Sisco mistake cant be as bad as the Santana mistake. The Cubs are dumb, but not as dumb as the astros i say to myself.
  8. If he was going to take weurtz out why not use bartosh instead of ohman. id of rather seen him than ohman. is this a sign he thinks of using bartosh only on a full inning basis and not as a LOOGY?
  9. I don't quite get how Dusty only had "one questionable" move, he made a few absolutely terrible ones. But I'm sick of Greg Maddux already. I though he had far too many disaster games last year, and he had another last night. 5 runs in 5 IP is inexcusable. Hopefully he can find a way to limit these terrible starts, and can improve on last season. It seemed to me most people were complaining about macias and neifi. macias PH with 2 outs doesnt seem to warrant a 'the game was lost' because mentality, so i tried to make it as simple as possible to make my point. although i cant argue an other option could have been better. 8) The neifi move is the one stirring up the most debate in this thread. I thought greg could do well because it is warm in AZ. well i was wrong, last year i thought be blamed his slow start on the cold and wind blowing out. too many damn homers.
  10. Yes, Greg didn't pitch well last night. Do you imply that just because Greg pitched poorly that it's okay for Dusty to not put the team in position to win later in the game? Had he not used Neifi in that situation, I think the opinion on here is that there were better/more reliable options on the bench to help the Cubs overcome Greg's poor pitching performance and come away with a win or at the minimum, a chance to go into extras. Yes of course im implying that. jeez. Oh and yes its up to the manager to make up or overcome a poor performance of the pitcher by making the most perfect move or moves. I believer other factors should not be discounted in deteriming a loss. Even if it could be proven 100% that dusty's moved sucked in the ninth doesnt mean that you couldnt blame greg for the loss either.
  11. No one has mentioned anything about maddux's performance last night. wth. i know this is a dusty bad manager move thread or whatever, but maddux's pitching last night wasnt great. Y'all can complain about neifi in the ninth or macias in the 7th. sure neifi in the ninth was really important but what about greg. the dude is an absolute long fly machine now. last year 35 long ones and this year aint so great so far. hell 35 of his 95 ER's last year were homers and thats without adding the runners on base. Dusty's one "questionable" move doesnt seem to make up for gregs awful performance.
  12. Yeah,I have two pc's here going..each with 30 VWR's going, LOL. Thats not working for me like it did last year. i get one VWR and then do the crtl + n and it only opens a new browser to my home page. any suggestions? EDIT: i got it to work with explorer. couldnt get it for firefox or netscape.
  13. Ahh yeah. Couldnt agree more. i think this is the next step/evolution of the Cubs farm system. Now that this system is more mature these players are closer to becoming these flexibench players at the mlb level. Of the guys you listed, those are the ones most likely going to be in AAA (lewis & fotentot is good problem to have) this year. If they are successful in 05 all of these guys will have a legitmate shot to make the club next year (adios macias and your 800k!). I cant remember the Cubs being as strong in these B players as they are now. They had B players before but they fizzled or didnt develop any more once they hit AA or AAA levels. These B guys mentioned in this thread and others have been pretty successful at AA or AAA. Developing stars in the system is important but for teams to develop 'flexibench' players is very underrated.
  14. Thanks to the peeps that put this chat together and thanks to Oneiri as well! The minor league forum on this site proves how good it is again. Its why i originally came to this site. Cant get this discussion anywhere else.
