  1. Finally some love for Loux here. First time I hit all 3 top vote getters. Though Watkins could still bump into the top 3. Bill
  2. I may be wrong but I took the SS over the 2B prospect. I can't wait to see them both in Kane County. Bill
  3. Loux - yet again Whitenack - if this guy is ignored because the TJS why doesn't the same apply to our number 4 pick? I see a glass half full. Cabrera - Hope he can keep starting.
  4. Sounds like a plan. Lets kick this snail in the butt!
  5. Loux - been voting for hi a while Hernandez - SS gets my vote before Amaya. Amaya - This puts the frosting on top of KC's infield. All in the top 19. This is getting iffy. Who really knows how reality shakes out now. I may still have one or two before I like Torreyes. Bill
  6. Agree with your list entirely. My number one though is seeing the infield at Kane County. Their performance this year will be telling for some of the highest of the Cubs Prospects. I'm looking forward to seeing some games that may be more exciting than the big league club. I better go early before some of these guys get promoted. Bruno may jump to A+. He is a favorite of mine as well. Hope to see him keep hitting. Yes, future second baseman/super utility guy. Adding catching to his resume may be just the ticket. Many NL managers wish they had a third catcher that didn't take up a roster spot meant for the utility inf/of guys. I'm also going to enjoy the lead up to the amateur draft. Even this early it's fun to think about who the cubs take with that 2 pick. A Georgia bat anyone? Or maybe a college or prep arm? Fun fun fun!
  7. I went Loux, Alcantara, Hernandez. Amaya, Torreyes, Watkins are also worthy.
  8. It was a tough choice between far away upside and near term usefulness. I went upside with Underwood. Bill
  9. I think Alcantra might beat Torreyes Head-to Head. Just take The top two. Bill
  10. I voted for Loux, but also agree that Struck is similar. I guess I don't value far away potential in pitching as much as I value Loux neared term promise. While I'm not a scout I did read Sickels on Minor League Ball (I think) put Loux at 20. Plus I am an Aggie alum so that may have colored my pick here I suppose. Bill
  11. Loux Underwood Alcantra Two pitchers and then the rest of the infield talent block begins. Amaya, Hernandez, Torreyes, Bruno. Bill
  12. Agree on Bruno, how many times does the manager wish he had a third catcher. Though I think so far he has only started working bullpen sessions. Lets jus hope he can keep hitting as he moves up the ladder. Bill
  13. Candelario Loux Underwood There are so many similarly talented infield candidates that this is getting increasingly difficult. I decided Candelario is my top dog. He has the power potential and seems to have a patient approach at the plate. Loux near term usefulness trumps Underwoods far off potential for me. After these how do you scatter Amaya, Hernandez, Alcantra and for my reach pick because he is my favorite make-up guy, Bruno. Multiple positions across the infield and outfield and the batting title? I know he doesn't get a lot of votes this early but I can see him moving up the list pretty quickly with another good year. Bill
  14. I have a feeling fans(me included), are hoping for the pitching so much that we are reaching for more risky and distant and supposedly more elite pitching prospects over the nearer term hitting prospects that really haven't had enough of a chance to prove they belong on a MLB roster yet. The reason we think that way is it is pitching is such a clear deficiency. However, we also seem to ignore the pitching that is nearly ready to be called up. A guy like Loux, that is probably "only" a 3-4-5 starter prospect (near term) is completely overlooked because he does not have that elite label.
  15. Sorry that last was meant for the other string. Bill
  16. Why is Josh Vitters so polarizing a kid? He has proven himself in the minors. He needs more time to see some adjusting at the MLB level. This is not a comparison, just food for thought. Mike Schmidt hit .206 in his first short appearance in 1972 and the next year, seemed like a full season from the stats, he batted .196. Why didn't they trade him of to the Cubs as worthless? Well, they knew he had power, AND........They knew how to be patient and let him adjust. Of course I get upset with my team when they lose a hundred plus games, and lord knows we Cubs fans have heard that we should be patient until that only fuels the upset more. But though the fans don't have to be patient, when it comes to player development the teams do. I just hope the Cubs have a chance get him enough MLB at bats to see if he can adjust before giving up on him. Bill
  17. Lake - Lake could be a surprise on the 25 man roster in 2013 if he shows well in spring training. If not, a good AAA showing could earn him a chance for a mid-to-late season call-up. Can't wait to see him try to put those tools to the test. Loux - I think Loux may contribute at the MLB level this season if all goes well. Candelario - At this point there is a lot of very young talent mixed with lots of lower ceiling AAA and AA players that may only have average MLB potential. If Candelario can stick at 3B he may actually belong here. Bill
  18. I think he will figure out the hitting. Not sure about the D. Bill
  19. Vitters: I don't know but PJ is still quite a ways away. There is still a lot for him to prove. Vitters has shown a propensity for adjusting to each level. I say if he can, (Y/N,70/30?) he would be much higher than this. Bill
  20. Good to go.
  21. This one seems to have two clear top vote getters. How close determines a run-off? When will Bruno be added to the list? Bill
  22. Lake - He should be up with the big club sometime in 2013. Hope he can harness those tools. Vitters - he has had his first go around. If he adjusts like he has at each previous level, his next call-up should be more impressive. Loux - I think this guy might be ready for the bigs soon. Back end starter? Bill
  23. Maples - maybe doesn't belong quite this high, but he's my next pitcher. Lake - Such good tools. Hope he can put it together at AAA VItters - Not giving up on him like some. He has adapted to every level so far given some time to adjust. Lets hope his next call-up shows that's true at the major league level too. Bill
  24. Jackson Paniagua Maples Personally, I have a hard time ferreting out where the pitchers belong relative to the position players. I put Jackson at 6 and Paniagua and Maples are the first pitchers on my list. Bill
  25. Should Hector Rondon our new rule five pickup be in the list?
