  1. It never has and it never will. That is also true depending on the context. I was just saying that after Spring training I might have a different opinion of Soler/CJ.
  2. It never has and it never will. Yes it will. The Bilbo has spoken. Ha. Don't think anyone should listen to me any more than others, but thanks for the mention. Always did like the underdog short guy. Baginses are big on Bruno too but not here. :-)
  3. I think Soler will be just fine. His performance in the AFL made it pretty clear that the injury was not debilitating. Spring training will tell all. Edwards is my pick at 5 though.
  4. I am of the same opinion. Soler barely edges out Edwards for now. Maybe double A this year will show some separation.
  5. Soler68. Think it worked this time. I hope.
  6. Hope that isn't his real birth year. Really putting my non-photographic memory to the test.....But Isn't that the number he wore during spring training? Hope the pic works Dang, I found the pic with 68 but obviously don't know wtf I'm doing.

  8. That's a good point that the Baez/Bryant power shows last year can make Soler look a bit less exciting. I'm really high on Edwards but maybe I should still consider Soler at 4. Its really hard to go wrong here though. I remember last year we really reached for Paniagua (was it 7?). But Edwards is much different. He has proven himself with performance at every level so far. A high K/9ip and only one dinger off him in his minor league career? I don't think I can penalize him for his slight build until it really appears to be an issue in performance. But, maybe I am reaching for him here and ignoring a solid Soler. Guess I still have a day +/- to decide.
  9. Absolutely Almora! He just makes it look like he was born playing centerfield. I think of that Fogerty song by the same name and it makes me smile. The next few years are going to be awesome! :yahoo: Not that we're going to win immediately, but just to be a witness to the development of the core of this team over the next 3-4 years. If we get a little luck from the development gods and a high percentage of our crude diamonds start to sparkle? Look out world!
  10. I think at least through top 5 it should be 1 vote only, and probably through top 10 Yeah, that's kinda where I'm at. I don't really care if there's a poll for #2, but I don't really see much reason not to have one. Ok with me either way. It's all fun.
  11. I agree with you to a point. Never a bad thing to keep a healthy amount of skepticism. But I'm also happy with the development going on. It's what makes these lists fun.
  12. Man, I really like the way you think! And that's assuming he just repeats last years performance ad infinitum. He may just be scratching the surface of his potential at this point.
  13. :clapping: Thanks Rasin! I was tempted by what seems to be a higher floor with Bryant but then if floor was the decider I think Almora might be the better choice. Didn't like that idea so much, so I went back to my 1st instinct and took Javier Baez. He may just even get better than he was last year. Hard to imagine that dream could come true.
  14. Did I miss it?
  15. Now if we are doing the one at a time poll. Mid spring training if doing everyone's top 40 list. I'm ready when ever you want to start. Just saw Tanaka is coming to Chicago to visit both the Cubs and White Sox but really don't see any reason to wait for that to work itself out.
  16. Now that the holidays are over, I should be able to do it. Thanks Rasin.
  17. Well I would volunteer because I have the time but I am neither moderator nor have I the experience to do one. I will say that this board and particularly last years poll rating the prospects has rekindled my love for the Cubs by giving me something to root for other than the MLB Cubs. It just got me hooked on the minor league prospects part of the game and I take great enjoyment from it. Thank you all.
  18. A nice hybrid approach. man the polls were the best part of last offseason. :) Agree with you there. It was much much more fun doing the poll. You got to discuss each prospect and get lots of opinions. Even change your vote if you wanted to. My two cents.
  19. I guess I agree with that, but I think he will be a beast. I just love getting my hopes up! I do think, though that as we go along here with a few of our top prospects bubbling up out of the system there will come a time when the big league club starts getting competitive, and our draft picks get outside the top 10 when we will need to consider what we could get in return for some of the guys that will be veterans by then and maybe keep the pipeline fresh. Yea, way ahead of myself there but that is what I want to see down the road.
  20. Yea that does seem likely if the cubs are following the path of the cardinals. They always seem to restock their system by trading guys once they get their best years or a draft pick with a QO. Hoping we get a deal on him early (not likely) assuming he rakes his rookie season. Maybe delay the FA exit a couple seasons?
  21. Glad CJ is pitching the second game.
  22. From the weather radar looks like the worst of it is headed into the Gulf. Maybe get it in after all.
  23. Vitters, yeah he has been enigmatic in that way. Cant figure out why he hasn't stepped up. His biggest problem is his defense. I still think he can hit at a major league level. He has always taken a while to hit at each level. His cup of coffee last September was not enough to decide he cant adjust to the pitching. If he doesn't improve his D. though he may not get the chance to prove he can hit.
  24. I would like to see Glasnow and Polanco as the center of the deal for Garza and Nate. Maybe one other as a first pass, Kingham?
  25. I wonder if the relevant agencies are letting Paniagua know what the hold-up is with his visa paperwork. I'd hate to think someone is waiting for a payoff but what else could it be unless maybe its something serious they don't want to disclose. He is off any of my prospect lists until I know what is going on.
