  1. Jesse Sanchez‏@JesseSanchezMLB RHP Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez has received notice from US gov. that his app is being processed. He could be cleared by OFAC early as next week
  2. Not a single word on the actual performance. SMH. This talks about the results. But can't speak to the stuff. http://www.chicagonow.com/world-series-dreaming/2013/06/a-grainy-hard-to-watch-first-hand-look-at-the-next-cuban-sensation/
  3. This morning from PSD's ABTY - Hearing first domino will fall prior to 7/7... Multiple talks in advanced stages including Villanueva deal to an NL Central team...
  4. Hypothetical Scott Feldman to the Giants for RHP Clayton Blackburn and C Andrew Susac. Too much / not enough?
  5. He's injured and still at Fitch. Thanks Raisin. Was hoping for injury specifics. But if it's not out there, it's not out there.
  6. Does anyone know what's up with Marcelo Carreno?
  7. Last year it was July 18th. I saw it mentioned somewhere a few weeks ago, but can't find it. For some reason though, I thought it was being held in June this year. Thanks Dave. I had read the first Monday after the draft (from an unofficial yet reliable source). But there was no buzz about it yesterday. I believe it's supposed to be after the signing deadline, not the draft itself. I failed reading. "The lottery will take place on the Monday following the Rule 4 Draft signing deadline." I missed the signing deadline part. I'll now head to the penalty box.

  9. Does anyone know when they're holding the competitive balance lottery for 2014 picks? I know it's coming up soon.
  10. If you fail to sign a comp balance pick, do you get a pick next year?
  11. Not enough, too much? Garza and DeJesus to the Rangers for Mike Olt, Justin Grimm, and Luke Jackson. (Assuming Olt's vision checks out.)
  12. I didn't know if you guys had seen this in Bruce's blog. On Alcantara I'm told Alcantara is probably out for the year. Jae-Hoon Ha, though, should be back by next week. Posted by Bruce on Sat, 08/04/2012 - 13:29
  13. You're assuming that Wood started off with an even number of service years. No, I did the actual maths. Or I tried to. He was at 1 year, 39 days coming into the season. He was kept down until May 22. If I'm doing the maths right, he will miss cutoff for another year by a few days. AZ Phil was saying, a few days ago, that Wood should have been kept down at Iowa for 4 more days to gain another year before he'd be a free agent. He thought the Cubs should have sent Wood to the minors this past Saturday, pitched at Iowa earlier tonight, then recall him on Tuesday. That would have bought them the extra year of service time. http://www.thecubreporter.com/2012/07/05/obligatory-thread-overflow-post#comments (check his multiple comments)
  14. This is my take as well That's very short-sighted, especially since Almora is universally considered better than Soler. You might be squabbling over mere hundreds of thousands of dollars that probably won't screw up the rest of your draft and the Cubs probably won't get as good a player in next year's draft since they'll go the safer route to avoid risking not signing next year's 7th overall with no compensation in 2014. Teams get an extra year of protection for compensation picks for failure to sign draftees from the first three rounds. For example, the Blue Jays get the 22nd pick in 2012 after not signing No. 21 overall choice Tyler Beede in 2011. If Toronto can't come to terms with the compensation selection, it would get another one in 2013. http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/draft/news/2012/2612723.html
