  1. Or the Dodgers. I think no one else has restrictions right? Padres are restricted too. Could be the Angels, collecting pool space for their recent Braves free agent spree. Doesn’t that come out of next years pool?
  2. that doesn’t bode well for us. Or the Dodgers. I think no one else has restrictions right?
  3. Brisbee also predicted Ohtani (and Addison Reed) to the Cubs https://www.mccoveychronicles.com/2017/12/6/16740180/2017-2018-mlb-free-agent-predictions-sf-giants
  4. The Bulls had the last pitch to LeBron on 2010 and we know how that turned out.
  5. Ok guess this will wrap up pretty soon then. Surprised he didn’t sign with the Cubs already
  6. I mean it impacts them on a national level but in terms of regional sports network, NBC is not affected by this
  7. [tweet] [/tweet] Edit: Also relevant Trump tweet:
  8. Well this is an absolutely silly ass thing to say The Cubs were totally gonna offer him a 300k signing bonus until they found out the Yankees weren’t involved. Now they are only going to offer him 300k
  9. I'm not sure it's crushing. It might have been had Hossa not gone on LTIR. There are worse D men making the same same as Seabrook. With reduced minutes he hasn't looked that bad if you weren't comparing him to what he used to be. Doesn't seem like Toews or Keith are nearly the players they were either (although Keith's contract is much more palatable). Not sure what can be done but I'll still take it considering they won it 3 times. If you asked me in 2006 I would have said that never could happen and it was awesome. Yeah even if the title contending era is over I will never complain about it ending too soon with 3 titles in the bag. It just sucks that they may be hitting that point right when the Bulls and Bears are dumpster fires. Really shitty season for Chicago sports since the Cubs were eliminated.
  10. This stretch of 5 games in 7 days was going to be tough even with Crawford so that somewhat alleviates the devastating nature of the timing of his injury. No doubt. Would have liked to have seen better than 1-2-2 in that stretch. I have no idea what to think of this team, some games they look like they are piecing it together, other games they look overmatched. Obviously we've been unlucky in OTs which has cost us some points. I guess overall they look like a fringe playoff team, though not a 2012 Kings type of 8 seed that can get hot and win a title (though I wouldnt completely discount it with the way Crawford has been playing). And as usual they will not have any cap space to add pieces at the deadline so this is what we're getting.
  11. Psh, over 3 hours from NYC to London. How about 39 minutes from NYC to Shanghai? https://www.theverge.com/2017/9/29/16383048/elon-musk-spacex-rocket-transport-earth-travel
  12. Twitter is already speculating that Giants ownership is communicating with McDaniels through backchannels about becoming the new HC. Whether or not you want McDaniels, it would suck to have one of the names off the board already because the McKaskey's don't want to fire a coach midseason.
  13. "Right Javy?" "That's right gorilla suit guy"
  14. Can't wait to see another craptastic performance against a team coming off a short week. I didn't even realize the Bengals blew it last night. If they would have won, they'd still be in the thick of the AFC playoff race but now their hopes are likely gone.
  15. [tweet] [/tweet] Obviously been rumored for awhile. Sports connection: [tweet]https://twitter.com/ericjackson/status/938055430160314369[/tweet] Doesn't really impact Chicago sports as CSN is NBC Sports now.
  16. http://www.espn.com/blog/chicago/cubs/post/_/id/46263/in-race-for-shohei-ohtani-dont-count-the-cubs-out-just-yet Article from Jesse Rogers. He does report that several Cubs players have been asked to keep their calendars open in case they need to fly to LA for the meeting with Ohtani
  17. Wish he visited Chicago last weekend when it was actually decently warm
  18. I forgive you because your username makes me smile every time I think about what it is referencing.
  19. Yosh Kawano Most of the guys have no idea, but this post is funny AF. What Cubs fan over 30 years old doesn’t know who Yosh Kawano is?
  20. I think KB definitely will be there, assuming some players go. He's probably got the most in common with him. I'd suspect the same guys you mentioned, possibly with Hendricks and Quintana, to meet his rotation mates. Maybe Willy, to meet his battery mate. Almora, to meet the guy playing next to him in the OF. That said, it wouldn't shock me if they brought the entire team. Just depends on what Theo knows about him from a personality standpoint. You guys really think half the team is going to come to this presentation? I’m thinking Bryzzo and that’s it if any players even come
  21. I was thinking this morning I should create an animated gif of Don drunkenly pitching Life Cereal but put Theo's head over Don's and pitching "The Cure for the Common Baseball Team" or something but then I remember that I have no photoshop skills
  22. I don’t think this was posted yet
  23. I have it on good authority that Theo has purchased the rights to the Concorde and right this very second is assembling one for Ohtani so he can make trips to visit his family on Cubs off days
