  1. Their lineup is no doubt better, but it's not the murder's row it was last year, esp. with Walker and Sanders hurting (what good is the best player in the game, if he's not protected in the lineup). And the 'stros roatation, and bullpen are better than the cards, so I say it's a wash. You're correct though, need to win today.
  2. Hey, we can argue about who was at fault there, but I can at least understand why you cubs fans would have something against him. But moron above just doesn't like the fact that his boys were dominated by Roy. That's lame (but what do you expect from fans who give 1st inning curtain calls  ).
  3. Wow, you're a bitter little man. Why is he a punk? B/c he shut you down? Jeez, that response is lamer than 1st inning curtain calls from the "best fans in baseball."
  4. Most 'stros fans like Garner, even though his hunches leave you scratching your head sometimes. But he did play ball in Houston, so that doesn't hurt.
  5. Reggie is playing. The Cardinals still have the edge. They will until Houston actually takes the lead I think. Coming into it when it was 0-0 they had the edge and it still holds now that it's 1-1. Your home field argument doesn't hold all that much water considering the Cards are 5-3 in Houston this year. What was the 'stros record in STL this year? We split, which is all we needed to do. Regular season means nothing now. You should be more concerned about your pen.
  6. Dierk's the man! :D
  7. I'm sorry, I misread your post. If they try to pitch Carp in game 5 & 7, I'll take those odds.
  8. Of course, we will see Carp in Game 5. But they will also see Pettitte, Roy and Clemens twice if it goes 7. And hopefully Roy doesn't hit Pettitte in BP this time. Also, I don' think you can discount the sad state of affairs in the Cards pen. And if Sanders isn't 100% that really hurts them.
  9. And yet the astros have made the playoffs 6 out of the last 9 years.
  10. Oh and Reggie "Grace" Sanders being hurt doesn't help your cause.
  11. CardsFan, with the next three in Houston, the rotation of the 'stros, with Lidge owning you guys and with the sad state of your bullpen, I give the edge to the 'stros. About 60/40.
  12. I would bet you are in the minority in that assessment.
  13. who would be the favorite, at this moment, to win the series?
  14. Hunsicker's been gone for a year now (I bet he gets the job in Philly), but Bennett's a pretty popular guy in Texas. It might work!
  15. Is this really a shock? Aren't most older ball players overpaid when they get long in the tooth, b/c of what the did when they were younger? That's the nature of the game.
  16. Hatred by some. Healthy respect for most. Same is true for me and the Astros. I agree, Cubs/Cards 'hatred' is mostly a myth. There are some bitter fans on both sides but mostly it is a healthy, friendly rivalry. I guess I just got a different impression from reading the Cards' boards.
  17. I guess this kind of surprises me, I thought the Cubs/Cards hatred ran a little deeper.
  18. Well, thanks for all the support.
  19. Who are the cubs fans pulling for? Our Houston boys could use all the help we can get.
  20. I'm sure they'll sell the game out tonight, Clemens is pitching.
  21. Sorry to let you guys down. 8)
  22. I don't think Carpenter wanted to go into the playoffs with his 4th bad start in a row.
  23. That I'm a lifelong astros fan, my team is in the thick of the playoff hunt, playing a day game in Wrigley, and I until a few minutes ago I didn't even know who won. I guess sometimes life trumps baseball. It's not supposed to happen that way. :D
  24. If this is true, it will kill baseball in the city of Houston. I am not talking about the astros, the impact it will have on the team pales inn comparison to how Houston will take this news.
