    Gomes has sneaky had one of the worst defensive games I've ever seen a major league catcher have. It hasn't really cost us anything though. He looks like the non Mirabelli catchers trying to catch Wakefield Hopefully just a combo of new mitt and unfamiliarity with pitchers

    BN's writeup on the Nico play is.. odd. I don't quite understand why so many people are convinced he can't play a good shortstop when we've seen the athleticism at second base. Raw arm strength isn't everything. It's weird.

    I'm actually really excited to see Madrigal play hopefully a full season. Zero K's through I think 17 spring PA's after the long layoff for him. I'm with Cubswin in that I'd like to see him 5th or 6th in the order with runners on and more holes in the infield

    Seems like there's a decent chance Simmons starts on the DL and the outfield decisions will be pushed back a few weeks

    I guess my takeaway, especially after the last 8 months, is it's perfectly reasonable to not rush to sign a post-prime player to a market value extension.

    Interesting, I wasn't expecting Villar at this point. Decent insurance for Wisdom I guess. Looking at the roster, I tentatively expect Frazier to start the year in the minors since he still has an option.

    I am kinda surprised there's been nothing on Correa since things were supposedly heating up with the Astros late Sunday night. I was expecting to wake up Monday with more news there. I suppose he's just waiting on Freeman though.

    I'm really bummed if that's true. There is so much room on the payroll to beat 5/70. Now it'll be interesting to see where the good prospects attached to Hosmer go

    My thinking/hoping is that we're putting the full court press on Suzuki if/after we miss on Correa. If Jed wants him and the scouts believe in him, there's no reason we shouldn't be the highest bidder at that level considering where the payroll is at. I also think it's the main reason why Hosmer isn't a Cub yet because the Padres want him too.

    That Rosenthal tweet is interesting and I guess Simmons could theoretically be an extreme glove first backup or part time 3B if/when Wisdom fails. Buuut it feels like he's the opening day SS

That was a nitpicky counter by the PA when MLB gave them an option of no International draft. And how does MLB see that not strong counteroffer and not even respond to them early in the night before canceling more games? Jesus H. I'm willing to both-sides my frustration tonight

    Reports seem almost semi-positive tonight. I think Bertz is gonna be right with a deal tomorrow or Wednesday. Hopefully MLB extends the fake deadline tonight
